ALL COVERED UP A PITCH cover was last night (Tuesday) put up to protect the hallowed turf at Vicarage Road ahead of the big clash this weekend. pitch cover The cover was used last week to shield the pitch prior to the FA Cup game against Stockport County. Rain is forecasted for the rest of this week and in a bid to safeguard the pitch as much as possible the cover has been used again. The recent weather has caused a number of postponements up and down the country. pitch cover Therefore it was decided to do everything possible to try and protect the pitch prior to the televised game with Liverpool this Saturday. The centre of the pitch is raised (see photo above) so any rain can then drain to the side of the pitch.
On Saturday as they rolled up the last bits of the cover they dumped loads of water near the touchline on the Rous side. What missed the pitch went on to the astro turf around the side. 5 mins later some **** on a tractor reverses up the astro turf towards the Vic end at speed. he didn't think to hug the stand side but instead was close to the pitch causing all the preciously dumped water to spray up straight back on to the playing surface. Thick as ****.
