So this isn't confirmed yet, but it is almost certain that Paredes will sign. It makes a change to be so confident on a player signing on the dotted line. How much would people be happy with regarding a transfer fee?
Hot topic on the sky sports transfer-centre http://www1.skysports.com/transfer/...news-watford-to-seal-juan-carlos-paredes-deal Looks to me to be just copying the wobby article.
Transfer fee ? He will be sold to parma, who loan to Granada but invoice udinese, and sub-rent to wfc who pay nothing. Trust in Nani !
Seems to be a lot of people getting carried away again like last summer. Who is to say Paredes won't be another Fabbrini/Belkalem/Iriney? I think 20/1 is pretty fair, no-one knows if Deeney will stay and no-one knows if Abdi will stay fit. Vydra could either be the player he was in his first half of the season with us, or the second half. Gomes probably isn't much better than Almunia. Cathcart isn't great. We have been told by Leicester fans that Dyer usually runs out of steam half way through a season. Can't comment on Tamas as I don't know much about him. Just playing devil's advocate as a lot of you seem to think 20/1 is a great price for us. The bookies know what they're doing. P.S for the record, I'm very pleased about our signings so far, but I said the same thing last summer!
Just seen this on Twitter make of that what you will Alfredo Arévalo M @alfredoarevalom 3m Danny Walker Asesor de Juan Carlos "Hormiga" Paredes "Hormiga va a firmar por el #Granada y se va a prestamo por 1 año al #Watford Translated from Spanish by Bing Danny Walker Advisor of Juan Carlos "hormiga" Paredes "Ant will sign by the #Granada and is going to loan for 1 year to the #Watford
Fully expected to hear/read that he was signing for Granada and the loaned to us. This still frees up a couple of over 23 loans from our sister clubs and we continue to do a massive swerve on FPP. Top work Nani
The Ecuadorian chap at LD Quito told me they call him the worm. Hormiga even though as you say hormiga is Spanish for ant.
Apparently his agent confirms. 5 years contract with Granada and 1 year loan to WFC. http://www.ecuagol.com/ecuagol/index.php?n=54346
Given Vydra, Anya, Dyer and now Paredes, if there is a pacier team in the Championship this season I will be shocked. That's a frightening amount of speed to have in one side, even more so if Beppe manages to get them all on the pitch at once...
Belkalem signed a 5 year deal with Granada then we made his loan permanent here, hopefully the same will happen with Paredes.
Also, must be frustrating for a Granada fan to see a guy who played well at the World Cup sign for your team only to leave straight away! I assume he's good enough to play for Granada?
Why can't we just sign him ? Or have I missed that explanation ? To me it's the only criticism with the network...we have to loan then buy.... Why can't we just buy. It's not like this deal is a weird triangle deal in Italy lol.
Money. We're poor, Granada are richer. By buying from Granada after a year it means we don't have to pay anything. The initial loan part is to make sure everyone's happy with the deal.
Presumably the sister club buy the player (or pay the signing on fee in the event if a free transfer) and then loan or sell the player (for free or minimal amount) to us. Great for us now and if we ever get to the premier league then we will returning the favours. Essentially we shouldn't get hung up on who owns the registrations as the Pozzo's ultimately own all the players for all three sides. Whatever profit is made either here or in Italy or Spain goes to the same family. Only down side is if all three fail to do well but the scouting network has worked for many years so just trust them and hopefully enjoy the ride!
Quite likely. If Visa needed for a full signing by WFC but not for a loan, then it's almost certain, so he can come and join the team earlier. Allan too has been playing for Udinese on loan from Granada last two seasons and only now he's signed for us. In Italy we can have a limited number of extra-EU players with quite complex rules on it (like, you can sign a new one only if first you sell another). In Spain IIRC there's also a limit on number of extra-EU, but probably the rules are simpler and maybe it's enough to stay within the limit with players in team (excluding loans then) at the end of transfer window. That would probably explain why most of extra-EU players going to Udinese and Watford come via Granada. Maybe Rojiblanco could tell us more about rules in Spain.
I believe it's 3 non EU players in a squad (not sure if that's matchday squad or the entire squad though). Most African countries are exempt though, and don't count as part of the quota (hence Ighalo + Nyom always going to Granada), in fact every country on this list doesn't count towards the non EU quota: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African,_Caribbean_and_Pacific_Group_of_States
It's not a huge issue and as I stated it is my only criticism, I would just prefer us to sign them out right tbh.
Understood But why is it a 'criticism' at all? I genuinely don't see any downside to this arrangement, if anything there are some pretty obvious benefits involved
I suppose one could argue it is more difficult to settle, knowing that after learning the language and becoming embedded in the culture, you might be shipped off to an entirely new country in a years time. If he is a bit slow to settle on the pitch, the fans might afford him less time knowing that they can easily just send him back to Spain, rather than seeing him as a long term investment. I'm mostly playing devils advocate... there is a minute difference overall.
