The Hornets are planning to bolster their squad for the upcoming campaign in the Championship, and have set their sights on signing Barcelona’s Oriol Busquets this summer. http://sportwitness.co.uk/watford-v...lks-for-last-few-days-club-to-decide-shortly/ Not quite the signing we were hoping from Barcelona.
21-year old defensive midfielder. Represented Spain at most age level groups. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/oriol-busquets/profil/spieler/282721 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oriol_Busquets
We could have both Busquets and Suarez in our team this season then. Sort of! We will be like one of those tribute acts.
How many DMs do we want?! Maybe the Grimes deal isn't as done as some of us thought. With a name like that he should be an ace DM though. Here's a youtube vid. His passing seems pretty good, as one would expect from Barca. Difficult to tell how tough he is in the tackle though:
Lots of talk of loans coming in, especially from abroad Isn't there a limit on how many you can have now thanks to our previous **** housing in this league?
SportWitness have got every single transfer story about us right in the last two years. This is as good as done. Welcome Sergio!
We can have a maximum of 5 loans on a teamsheet. Max 4 loans from one club. Max 2 over 23s from one club.
In fairness to them they just translate foreign newspapers. This is from SPORT who are a Barcelona based (you guessed it) sports newspaper. Can't imagine this is the kind of story that generates a lot of clicks so it would be odd to make up.
Wow.....yes please. This guy is very good. Not sure Barca will sell him though, as he's a younger version of Sergio, but on loan would be a great signing. He's a defensive midfielder, although had a knee injury which halted his progress. He's over that now and played for FC Twente last season, although they played him mainly as centre back, which he can do, but is not his natural position. Far better playing in a deep midfield position and threading those passes though to the forwards. If he comes I wonder who else will leave, assuming we're getting Grimes as well? Maybe Chalobah is on his way too, seeing as I've not seen him in many (if any) of the training photos and he wasn't part of the squad that played Scunthopre. Great player though will loads of potential. Gino get this one done.
Does Sierralta count as U23? 23 now but turns 24 during the season. By the sounds of it, if both him and Perica are on loan, Troost-Ekong would have to sign permanently if he is to come here...
Now the club have exposed their hand, I think I’ve found our other transfer targets: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamín_Vidal https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andre_de_Jong https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rúben_Semedo https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/israel-alba/profil/spieler/366711 Get it done, Gino.
Ruben Semedo is the perfect addition to our team of miscreants. Attempted murder far outdoes the misdeeds of Deeney, Gray, Murray and Forestieri.
If loans became an issue, I suspect we’d just be given Sierralta and Perica on permanent deals to free up the space - Troost-Ekong less likely. The former haven’t really broken through so whilst they’d still be in the group, Udinese won’t really miss them. I suspect after the furore that arose last time regarding our loans, the EFL will be watching closely. But not sure they can do much about us just passing players back and forth as free transfers?
I misread that at first, I genuinely though NathWFC was going to Villa and I was thinking that it would be good business for the forum.
Or that we are light on quality and numbers in CM anyway when you look at Chalobah and Cleverley’s fitness record? Even Hughes is prone to a couple of injuries a season. Capoue, Busquets/Davies, Grimes, Hughes, Cleverley, Chalobah, Quina - seems the right amount of numbers to me for depth and the amount of games we have/injuries we get. And Dele-Bashiru can go on loan for a season and get regular game time.
The season is already going to be hectic. I can see games called off pre-Christmas too, given the likelihood of a second wave. Having a strong squad is going to be important. From the sound of it, Busquets can play as a dedicated ball winning DM, and we don't really have one of these: Chalobah, Grimes (if we sign) etc. are deep lying playmakers, although the latter is very good at winning the ball back (from a 10 minute youtube clip). He can also play as a ball playing CB, giving us more flexibility when chasing a game. Ergo, sign him up.
Or games are called off pre-Xmas and we are left with a huge squad to pay with no second furlough scheme to fall back on and players unwilling to take a further pay cut after relegation clauses....
