I know another williamson thread, Saw this on tribal football - not the best source and gossip merchants but http://www.tribalfootball.com/portsmouth-maintain-watford-talks-williamson-290341 Did we really pay £400k for him ? Good news that Wycombe only get 25% rather han the 50% that has been touted. Still a £3million pound sale would nett Wycombe £650,000 leaving us with just under £2m profit in 8 months.
you know what ive been back and forth with this transfer, first thinking we should hold onto him and then flog him again. however i reckon ive gone back to holding onto him. to us he is probably worth the best part of 3-4m and we shouldnt sell him for anything less.
Does anybody seriously think we'll get 3-4m for an untested in the Prem player. He's good....but not that good
But its a sellers market. He is our player, contracted for another 2 or 3 seasons within our wage structure - if someone wants him they have to pay top dollar. Personally, I would not sell him at all until January when we will have a better idea how our season is going. Willo is the most important player we have (more so than Smithy) if we want to stay up. What is the cost of relegation? Anything less than £3 mill would be a disgrace in the current environment - look at other deals done eg Roger Johnson was £5 mill Cardiff to Birmingham.
I'm with you penguin man, we should not sell him unless we get £4/5million for him. He may not be worth that much in cash terms in the open market, but he is worth more like £5million+ to us as a player, as that is the sort of money we would have to spend to buy a replacement of similar quality and we probably would not be able to attract another player of his quality within our wage structure anyway? Williamson has a contract that fits into our wage structure, so we should stand firm and hold him to it, whether he likes it or not!!! I know I've said this before on another thread, but I really believe that although he will probably be disgruntled at first, he will have to settle down and get on with it. Otherwise he will probably get a reputation of being too immature and unprofessional, therefore he will need to continue playing to the best of his ability for the sake of his career, if for nothing else.
He's played his cards and the current culture of player power dictates he will go... Bye Mike. Don't want you in a Watford shirt now anyway. We gave you a shot and you're off after 5 minutes, cheers. Sound familiar? :sign16: I don't blame him for wanting to step up in class & cash etc in the Prem, but his handling of it's been nothing short of pathetic. He's burned his bridges with the fans and almost certainly in the dressing room with Malky & Dyche. Ship him out by 5pm.
I think we should hold out for 20 million. We could build the East Stand then and still give Malky some money to buy players. We should make a statement saying that it's 20 million.
