I'm far from convinced that he should have been called up, his 1st Championship season produced an average 11 goals. So he's having a good season, one good season in the championship shouldn't mean a call up. I'd have rather have seen someone who's scoring goals in the premiership, ie. Leroy Lita or Matt Derbyshire, both quick skilful players and have been scoring in the top division of english football. Surely thats where McClaren should be looking 1st and foremost. One good thing about Nugent's call up is that it's based on form, which makes a change from the reputation call ups, ie.Lampard.
I think it's good that someone in the Championship has been picked. I'm quite sure that Nugent would be scoring in Prem if he had been sold - he's good enough. If he got to play for Engerland he would give it 110% which sometimes I am not convinced all out players do. Good luck to him
Fair play to him, Just remeber he was playing for Bury 2 or 3 years ago so he has improved alot. It paid of for Nugent to stay with Preston but it would of been nice to see him in a Watford shirt
I think it's an abysmal selection and totally indicative of the moron we have in charge at the moment. Nuguent has never played a Premiership game yet is somehow good enough for international football? My arse! Clutching. At. Straws. Time for Mac to go.
Here here. Nugent was Ok last season(nothing to warrant a full call up I hasten to add), hasn't done a lot this.
Surely Young should have been ahead of Nugent? Not only did he prove himself last season but he had a big money move to Villa, and is doing a solid job there. He (like Nugent) also has U21 experience. Just another example of the manager caving into Press Popularity Pressure.
