http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/watford-closer-every-hour-to-next-signing This says he's been withdrawn from Malaga's squad today. But it also said Amrabat has played under Quique before so it could be talking out of its arse.
Looks like he was at fault for Sevilla's first goal. Just reading the commentary on the game and all it says was foul by Amrabst, a player for Sevilla wins a free kick, goal Sevilla. Is anyone watching the game? Was he at fault?
He knows how to finish, 2 good goals, although Malaga's defence has more holes than a chain link fence.
Just watched about 10 minutes of it. Amrabat has just been subbed, uninjured. Just had time to jump on the Sevilla keeper's arm. Keeper made a total drama out of it. Kameni came well off his line to stop a Sevilla chance. Malaga are now our rivals and officially tinpot.
Hopefully he is now jumping on a plane this evening and will be signed before Monday. After watching the Norwich Bournemouth game, we really do lack pace in our time. The speed in which Bournemouth and Norwich both broke at was something that we simply can't and don't do but I wish we did. With him in the team and another fast winger at least we will have the chance to hit teams on the counter a little better. Not only that, we will actually have a decent outlet when we are under pressure. Someone to hold onto the ball at their feet and run it up the other end to the corner flag in the dying minutes.
Technically he could if we signed him before 12pm on Monday, at least I think that's the rules I saw somewhere, I will try and find it. However even if we did, I agree with you that he won't play as he will be knackered after playing today then flying out tonight/tomorrow (if reports are to be believed).
I thought all signings for Saturday, Sunday and Monday games had to be done before midday on the Friday, could be wrong.
This is from the FL I know we're not in it but I can't find the right section for the Prem of any fixture played on a weekday when the Office is normally open, at least three hours before the match; or 41.3.2 in respect of any other fixture: (a) 12 noon on the day of the match; or (b) at least three hours before the match, whichever is the earlier.
True but he is Dutch, so it wouldn't take long, at least I wouldn't have thought. It's not like a signing from outside of Europe.
Not particularly. He gave away a free kick on the corner of the opposition's box, the Sevilla defender hoofed the ball long into Malaga's half, bounced once and on the half volley the Sevilla striker lobbed the keeper from outside the box. Lovely goal, but the defence was asleep.
Yeah but it'll be the international clearance that does for it. We'd do well to have him available for Newcastle.
Thanks for clearing that up for me. The written commentary was all I had to go on and they made it sound like it was his fault. Thanks again.
Depends what passport he has because he plays for Morocco, so if he has relinquished his Dutch passport then he would need a work permit wouldn't he?
True it does depend on that, but a lot of the time with full internationals like Amrabat who is also European, it goes through a lot quicker. Some players and clubs get clearance on deadline day to be able to play that weekend if the sign the player before 12pm that day. If we do sign him, I would be shocked if he wasn't cleared in time for the Newcastle game.
I don't think so but I could be wrong. I thought I saw somewhere that he still classifies himself a Dutch but opted to play for Morocco but that he still holds his Dutch nationality as that's where he was born. So I don't think it will be an issue but I could be wrong.
I half watched the game whilst working . My IG Thunks were - great work rate , really got stuck in which is commendable bearing in mind he's leaving. However the quality of the tackles were poor, he gave a number of free kicks. Looks strong in possession too. - A number classy flicks and quick crisp passing - Decent long shoot that curled wide - Played RM but moved more up front in the second half. - Didn't see much classic wing play from him probably due to the way Sevilla set up, who were playing deep , counter style. - Malaga play very similar to Watford . 4 4 2 , high pressing and work rate. - commentator , who plainly knew La Liga, stated he has been a key player for Malaga. - overall a decent game with out making a huge impression . But QSF has stated he has been following him for 3 years so we can feel safe he's what we need. Other notes - Kameni looked decent apart from one miscued clearance . He liked to come off his line quickly and positively , not a lot he could do about the goals - Sevillas striker scored 2 very classy counter attacking goals
From WD40... Sevilla 2 Malaga 1. Post-match thoughts of El Desmarque, Spanish media platform. 'Nordin Amrabat which surely will be played his last official as Malaguista 67 minutes at the Sanchez Pizjuan. And he did not say goodbye with a victory nor marking. He was seen particularly active, always volunteering, fighting for every ball and extra motivated. He started the match on the right, as usual, and ended up playing as a second striker after the entry by Cop after 52 minutes. 'Amrabat wanted to say goodbye with a good game in the derby .They agreed his presence regardless of the imminence of his departure to Watford. He never curtailed his desire to play one last game with Malaga [even though] possible injury that may truncate his landing in the Premiership. 'Now the player plans to permanently close its output to Watford. Gino Pozzo expected to agree payment and have Amrabat earlier this week and in England to undergo a medical and finalize his transfer by the British club. Quique Sanchez Flores expecting to be available for the match next weekend.'
President of Malaga has confirmed he is on his way to us https://mobile.twitter.com/ANAALThani Malaga fans extremely unhappy! They rate him very highly.
I would think he just means on a personal level - see you in the close season. I really liked the look of this guy today. Pace & ability, but also high work-rate, physicality & a general all-action approach & positive attitude. He's more "us" than Iturbe would have been IMO, based on what I've seen of both players so far. It's easy to see why QSF is a fan of one & less so of the other.
