    Nigel Gibbs Says...

This comes from the Edgware and Mill Hill Times.

NIGEL GIBBS has warned Watford of the threat of Kevin Doyle ahead of Saturday's vital clash with Reading at Vicarage Road.

The Watford legend, who is now part of Steve Coppell's backroom team, has seen Doyle, signed from Cork City in 2005, take the Premiership by storm and the Ireland international currently heads the scoring charts with eight goals.

"He's been excellent," said Gibbs. "I've been very impressed with him and all the plaudits he is getting are well deserved. He's a top, top player. He can hold it up, he can run in behind, has fantastic workrate and is a very good finisher. He has done very well this season."

Very few Reading players were on their game today.

Just a shame just as many Watford players weren't too!!

    Nigel Gibbs wants the job

    http://www.thelondonpaper.com/thelo...e-to-land-the-vacant-manager’s-job-at-watford

NIGEL GIBBS will hold talks with new Reading boss Brendan Rodgers after claiming he is flattered by speculation linking him with the Watford job.

Gibbs, who spent 23 years at Vicarage Road as both player and coach, is rated as one of the most promising coaches in the country after gaining his pro licence.

And while the 43-year-old insists he is still fully committed to Reading, he says the opportunity to move into management and replace Rodgers at Watford would be too good to turn down.

He said: "I will be having talks with Brendan to discuss my role at Reading and I'm contracted to Reading until 30 June.

"Obviously I've seen the newspapers, the websites and the betting which have all got me as a front-runner.

"Of course it's flattering. I spent 23 years there and I had the record number of starts and the second highest appearance-maker.

"I've got my pro licence. I'm ready to go into management now. I've really enjoyed the coaching side of it but I've got to wait to see what Reading have to say."

We could do a lot worse. I'd love to see him back at the club, even if as a number 2 to MM (or A.N.other)

Here is a real chance for Gibbs to come back to WFC. Here we still/now have GT and EJ so why not?

He looks likely to be relagated in the 'pecking order' with Brendan Kunters taking over.

Being a recent 'local' to this inbred county I would love Gibbs to come back home. The locals love him but if this man has some credibility he will 'come home' where he would be fullly appreciated (Loved) .

I cannot believe that GT has'nt already got him back.

If he stays with RFC then, In my opinion he will be no better than Rodgers

Are you being serious? How on earth can you say that?

The man is a bonafide WFC legend whether he comes back or not. For all we know he may not have even been officially approached for the job! And also, who are to know what kind of deal is on the table from BR for NG to stay at Reading?

To say that he's just as bad as Rodgers is totally baffling.

Now I look back at it I cant believe I said it either. Just frustrations coming out. Really cant see a way forward for the club with MM being in charge and would love to see Gibbs back to help the club.

    Apologies for the post

Would be a popular move but Zola might think we have enough coaches...

    For what role?
I doubt that he'd want to step back into U18s and the first team coaches already here are doing a good job.

  35. hornetboy1

....I admit there probably isn't a place for him and I don't think Zola knows him well enough to work with, but someone of his experience, quality and such a good connection with the club, it would be very nice to see him back where he belongs.
