[RUMOUR] Nicolas Pepe

Nicolas Pepe, 21 years of age, 5' 10" and a striker at Angers.

We supposedly bid for him in January along with Hull City & Newcastle United.

The report has him down as a striker, Wiki has him as a winger & Transfermarket as a right winger with a secondary position of striker.

Although born in France he has 1 cap for the Ivory Coast.

Newcastle United are leading the race for Angers striker Nicolas Pépé, with Watford, Wolfsburg, Hamburg and a number of French clubs all keen a making a move.
Rafa Benitez is a long-term admirer of the 21-year-old and was unsuccessful with an attempt to bring him to St James' Park in January.

Hull City also showed an interest in the striker, while at one point on transfer deadline day, reports in France suggested the Hornets had outbid both of them.
And according to L'Equipe in France, Newcastle and Watford are both contemplating another move for Pépé ahead of next season.

Angers are in the Coupe De France final this weekend against PSG and would qualify for the Europa League if they are victorious.
That is thought to be Angers' only hope of keeping Pépé, who has scored three goals in just 11 Ligue 1 starts this season.

In France, PSG, Monaco and Lyon are also interested in a move for the Ivory Coast international.

This was written about him in January when it appears he was linked with quite a few clubs.

Wow. You lot sure do know of Pope-related stuff.

...but did you know the Vatican has a large collection of stone penises that they chiseled-off from the city's statues because the Pope at the time thought they were indecent? They appreciated the artistic importance of the works though, so the Vatican kept them & they still have them to this day. True story.

 

Oh yeah, it was the 'artistic importance' which had stone penises strapped to individual chairs (so as not to get stolen, obviously ) in a private chamber, darkened so the colouring of the artists work wasn't ruined. Select members (fnarr fnarr) were the only ones allowed to 'view' these items. Alone.

Transfer talk: Reported multi-million Euro bid from Watford for Ivory Coast striker

  Watford have put in a 13-million Euro offer for Angers striker Nicolas Pepe, according to reports.
  
  The Hornets were said to be interested in the Ivory Coast international back in January along with Hull – Marco Silva's former club - and Newcastle.
  
  But while Pepe ended up staying put in the winter, the Ligue 1 side have received the above offer from Watford and a 10-million Euro bid from the Magpies, according to reports in French sports newspaper L'Equipe.
  
  However, the report also claims Pepe, 22, is uncertain about a move to the Premier League, with the player believing he is not ready.
  
  If that is the case, French clubs, including Lyon, Lille and Nice, are all potentially ready to pounce if he does not wish to try his luck in England next season.
  
  
  If this is correct I'd rather hear the boy saying he is raring to go and up for the challenge, rather than believing he isn't ready....although at least in saying that he shows some humility unlike billy big b0ll0x Niang.

 

Cant we Swappsies for the other Pepe, the bald crazy one, would fill our quota of challenging for the most yellow cards a season, I reckon with him at the helm we could beat last seasons record.

 

Could buy him and loan him back for a Season.

 

With all those priests around isn't it too much tempatation? Or is t only a problem when they re attached to young boys.

 

Man City supposedly interested in him now. Can't see that being true unless they really are cashing in on Iheanacho and see Pepe as a good enough replacement.

 

I find it hard to believe City would for for a 22-year old who has had one decent season. I know they have money burning in their pockets but this feels a stretch.

 

They plan to buy him and loan him out straight away.

 

i really hope players start wising up and not jumping to city as a fringe player at their first opportunity.

 

Apparently he's joining Lille instead for €10m.
