I've been lurking for years because I have nothing to say but my raincoat has worn out and you can't lurk without a good mac, so I decided to sign up.

Just thought I'd say hi. I've been viewing these forums for ages and thought I'd finally sign up. Been a WFC fan since I was a kid, sit in the Rookery and try and get to as many away games as I can, so hi!

Cryptic username or do you just like skateboarding and born in 1987?
If however you are a heating engineer then I do have a radiator or two that need replacing.

    Welcome.

Unfortunately not, I work in advertising. The name's just something I've used from when I was about 15, so it's probably time for an update to be honest. I was born in '87 though.

Hello. Dean Carlson here. American. Footie Fan.

I'm planning on going to the September 30 match against Brentford. Any suggestions on which section to buy a ticket, what pub to go to, do I buy a ticket on line or at the stadium, etc. Would be greatly appreciated. This may be my one chance to experience English football so I want to experience it with the locals.

Hi Dean, welcome to the forum.

What sort of experience are you looking for?

I'd buy a ticket in the Rookery Stand (behind one of the goals) and you can buy online but you'll require a Fan ID (these are free and easy to obtain, by registering here.

If you want to sit with some fans that like to stand up during the game, singing songs etc, then try and get a seat as close to Row VV, Seat # 1 in the Rookery as you can. If you want to sit quietly and take the game in, sit further away from that area.

As close to row VV, seat 1 in the Rookery then, and come along to our usual pre-match bar for drinks/singing etc. :)

Firstly, may I introduce myself? Sadly, I'm not actually a Watford fan (I support a rubbish team struggling in the lower reaches of L2) but I recently found out that my great-uncle, Thomas Ashbridge, played for Watford and holds the record for the most goals scored for them in an FA Cup tie. Some of you may already know that, if not please take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Ashbridge

Anyway, being a programme collector myself, I'd like to know if there are any programmes that mention him. As far as I know, Watford did not issue programmes in 1913-14 although he may have been listed in away programmes that season. A more likely scenario is that modern programmes may have an article about him. Please get in touch if you've got anything of interest. Even if you don't wish to sell, a photocopy or scan would still be welcome. Thanks for reading this, and best wishes to Watford (unless they play my club, who would probably lose the match anyway.)

    Hi Chris, interesting story.

You may be better placed creating a thread in the Hornet's Chat section where most will see it.

I'd also recommend getting in touch with the author of the putajumperon blog or the archiver behind watfordfcarchive.com as they could be useful in helping you find out more info etc.

    Also, Cambridge?

    Hi,

I've just down my first post on here having been reading this forum for a few years now, so thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a watford fan of 30 years. Started going to matches in the mid 80's, but was young and I don't think I appreciated what was happening at the time. Now am very excited about the current era as a chance to see something special happening again at my club. I attend around 10 game a season. Although, like many fans I'm currently frustrated by not seeing the potential of this current squad being realised, as I firmly believe once we get back in the premiership we will make a much better go of it this time!

    Hola!

Spanish fan here. I started supporting #watfordfc since we got promoted to Premier League... My first Watford FC memory was a goal from Don Cowie! What a man!
I've been reading the forum but not taking part in it since then.
I've never been to the Vicarage. Last year I bought the flights to go to a game, but we played against Manchester City in the FA Cup, so our home game was postponed...
Hopefully, this January I'll get another chance to visit the Stadium for the first time! And, it will be nice if you can recomend me somewhere to drink a beer (or two) before the match! I think I'll buy the ticket in the Rookery Stand :D
    See you there!

    PS: Sorry about my English!

    Absolutely.

The Rookery is the stand to be in and I'd suggest the Chocolate Bar at the top of town for pre-match drinkies where most on here frequent pre-match.

Ok! Thanks a lot! Yeah, I think I'd choose The Rookery; great atmosphere in there!

    Vienna is cool

Wienerwurstchen, Wienerschnitzel, Käsekrainer and of course Sachertorte eaten with the most wonderful coffee. The city is beautiful with so much history and I really want to go back there.

    Hi, DANKE!!!

A bit more Rapid, but to be honest I am not a keen supporter of any Austrian club. Level is quite poor. I rather find myself in pubs Saturday evening watching English football on the screen.

Found you because I was checking in the internet which club in or near London will play a home game in the last week of February when I will be in London. And Watford appealed to me because I think its a very good club. I can find my way at least to the Watford Coliseum, where I once was.

I think Watford is a great club currently. A lot of interesting players and smashing results!!!!

Ah, thanks. Tirol and Salzburg, that's quite far from Vienna. But you are right, beautiful country, great mountains. I always believe we lost the most beautiful part of Tirol to Italy in 1919 when it became South Tirol. In terms of football: Salzburg currently great (due to all the money coming from sponsor Red Bull energy drink) and Tirol poorest (second Austrian tier).

I recently visited S*dtirol. I loved the area. The history was very sad - I believe the U.K. had a hand in giving it to Italy, despite what the people obviously think, even today. It made me happy that the area is still culturally and linguistically a part of Austria.
