Hopefully that is just a precaution as we don't want him to be poached by anyone else, and that a longer contract will be forthcoming when everything is back to normal.
Good move on his part. Ties him up till the end of the season but he doesn't have to commit for there after. He will want assurances and some control over new players etc. If there is a season to complete.
