He stated that he wasn't interested in coming here in the Italian press just after we were linked with him.
It hasn't seemed like it was ever really feasible anyway. Also, I'm hoping we somehow manage to sign Marcelino Nunez instead.
Yes he looks good but shouldn't we being going for some proven tough English midfielders? They will cost more but as you said we lack creativity and power in the middle.
He seems to have creativity and takes an excellent free-kick. Plenty of fight as well. I can't think of many proven English midfielders left in the market who could offer all that.
He does indeed but we then come back to this rule of 11 carp. I personally think we should be looking at Styles from Barnsley, probably too late now but gives us great options in the squad and shifts Ken Sema because he's more than capable of stepping in if Kamara is out.
Styles is a decent player, but Kamara will be first choice LWB and we're not going to spend the likely chunky amount he would cost on someone to sit on the bench! Also, I know he can also play CM, but he's another left-footer, and our two current best CMs are also both left-footers. It seems pretty clear that if we're going after a CM we're very much looking for a right-sided one, with Nandez and Nunez both being very similar positionally in that regard. Styles definitely isn't that.
Not saying we have a chance, but he started on the bench for Cagliari today. Game still going on. Cagliari currently losing 1-0 to Como. Nandez came on in the 55th minute. Just under 10mins to go.
No I'm not - I'd made a comment earlier in this thread that I'd rather we signed Nunez than Nandez (they both play very similar roles, on top of having similar names) , one of the main reasons being that Nunez has an excellent free-kick.
Have no idea why he hasn't been snapped up by a Serie A club. The longer it goes in the window the bigger chance he might go **** it why not join Watford. He would be an unbelievable addition.
Probably a very unrealistic option, but Cagliari will be staying in Serie B. Nandez has one year left on his contract. if the rumours of Ismael are true, then Nandez would be a good piece a business. Guy doesn’t stop running.
Unfortunately there will be plenty of takers for him. He'll end up in the top league of Italy or Spain I'd imagine.
His stats are a great demonstration about what dropping down a league can do. Red is his last season with Cagliari in Serie A, blue is this season in Serie B - scarily the same, but with increased output in pretty much every metric.
