Young in center mid !?!?! Are you that clueless ? Mahon got horribly exposed when Ash played centre mid and a centre midfielder has to have some degree of defensive capabilities which Young clearly doesn't have. I disagree, Mahon does absolutely nothing going forward.. Stick Young in the middle as support to Priskin and Hoskins... worth a try, nothing else seems to be working!
Mahon isn't there to go forward i'm suprsied you hadn't realised that, what do you think we tried agianst Liverpool with Young in the middle supporting the front two ? It didn't work and left Mahon overloaded. Young doesn't have the all round capabilities to play centre mid, FACT.
Deary me Chewitt, Im well aware of Mahons strengths and weaknesses thank you. For me, Young wasnt playing in the middle on Saturday.. up front and anonymous! I just think he benefits from having quality in FRONT of him, something he hasnt has since King got injured. In that sense, it hasnt been tried has it?
- If you're so aware why point out he's not much going forward, or was that just to have a dig ? - When he got shifted inside he played central midfield, he was dropping extremely deep and left Mahon exposed. - Either way with Young in behind or in centre mid it simply wouldn't work, the midfield would be far too inbalanced and it would leave as mentioned, Mahon badly overloaded and with villa often playing 5 in midfield we'd get horribly overrun.

mahon could be over run, but the idea would be that with two winger, an attacking midfielder and two strikers, their players would be pinned back. I assume this is what king james means any ways. A very successful tactic for hamburg which got them in the champions league. They score 4, we score 5 and all that.

What I meant was that I thought Young started up front on Saturday but ended up chasing shadows in midfield and ultimately came deep looking for the ball. With two guys in front of him with (hopefully) attacking wingers, maybe he could dictate the play a little more. I genuinely think he's got the ability to do this.... hes never a striker IMO and never will be. I see what youre saying about Mahon being exposed but he was also (along with the rest of em) bloody awful on saturday.... Mahon isnt exposed that often to be fair regardless of positions purely because he doesnt move out of his own 10m square patch!
