Has extended his loan at Blackpool for a further month, what's the odds he does another month after that and then makes it permanant in the January transfer window? http://www.watfordfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~1158280,00.html
Hopefully. Nothing against the bloke good luck too him, but his future isn't here. Nowhere near mobile enough, and doesn't have the crazy Mackay run to make up for it.
At the fans forum Aidy suggested he'd sent him out on loan to get match fit as cover for Shittu when he goes to the African Nations
GSW, Yes that was very worrying. Matt Jackson is not good enough for our reserves. I'd rather play Malky.
Very unfair to write MJ off without seeing him in a league game! People were worried about Mackay's age/lack of pace when we signed him, but he forged a great partnership with Jay, whilst keeping that donkey Carlisle out the side! MJ has had a decent career, you don't become a bad player over night...Wigan wanted him for this season but were only prepared to offer a 1 year deal...so Wigan thought he was good enough for their squad...ok, he lacks pace but then so did Malky... MJ being at Blackpool getting game time is brilliant for us when he comes back to cover for Danny....a good move by Aidy!
I agree Bubbly - until he's played a couple of league matches in shape along-side Jay, I won't write him off, but rather trust Aidy's judgement. If Aidy thinks he's good enough, that's good enough for me.
the trouble is he was only on the bench for blackpool in their last game, which seems to indicate that he is not doing that well. I hope aidy is not relying on him to stand in for shittu, i think we need another centre back.
Well im just hoping that Avinel can play well for the first team, more performances like his MOTM game agaisnt Gillingham please
Bubble, Why do we need to see Jackson in a league game? He has focked up in two carling games against league one teams - that is enough proof for me. Malky at his best was different class to Jackson - Jackson has never been at the levels Malky reached. Wigan only wanted him as cover and that is all Blackpool are using him as. Come January when Danny goes to Africa we need a good loan or good buy. We can not take the risk of playing Jackson, Avinel or Mariappa I'd rather see Hendo back there. Next thing we'll hear is Dychey registering to play again Now there's a thought
To be fair as a pro footballer playing in August is hard work...especially when you're at a new club...you always need 5 or 6 games to get your match sharpness back...look at King! So to judge him on two cup games (one where he went off before HT with an injury aswell) is VERY HARSH IMO! So winning an FA cup with Everton is not reaching any great heights? Not to mention playing in the Premiership a hell of a lot more than Malky did...Malky played in a pub league for Celtic most his career and then Naaaarch in the Championship! Your arguement IMO doesn't stand up...sorry!
Latest poll by Blackpool fans. They were asked: "Who is currently the best defender at the club?" Result: Kaspars Gorkss 32.7% Shaun Barker 29.8% Michael Jackson 22% Stephen Crainey 13.1% Matt Jackson 2.4% http://www.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=912&p=2&stid=8460484
He got rated 8 and 9 in all of the papers after his first game for Blackpool, he can't be THAT bad. Perhaps he was carrying a niggle or something which explains why he may have been on the bench for their last game. I do agree with Berko though that in the CC he looked a bit shaky against Saaaarfend (wasn't at the Gillingham game) but then again that could've been a one off. He was a very useful defender for Wigan during his time there, and I wouldn't mind seeing how he'd do in this league - if he turns out like Malky I'd personally be delighted!!
Haha football is a fickle world. Two days ago none of us wanted him now we are begging for a recall :]] Oh well I too have no morals - JACKSON COME BACK NNOOOOOOOOWWWWW!?
Considering Jackson was in and around the Wigan first team in the premiership, and got offered a new contract, proves he isn't too bad. Only given a few chances, deserves some in the league. Yes he is old and may not have long in him, but as shown with Malky, experience is a huge benefit, and makes up for a lack of pace etc. Personally, I'd give young Avinel a start in the League and if he doesn't improve, then let's hope that Jackson has a recall option.
If Jackson can command a back four he should be training already now for Norwich. As soon as Demerit went of our backline fell completely apart. If Jackson isn't back, I would seriosuly consider playing Malky just to keep people in line, as it was disorganisation that cost us the first two goals (on top of an innordinate amount of Brummie luck)
I wasn't accusing you of anything...? Its either that or AM goes in at CB...:dismay: To be fair I think he is alright at RB, with Doyley in the middle, though then we wouldn't see Doyleys penetrating runs for a while... :]]
