...the bloody things barely ever worked in the Championship so why we keep wasting opportunities in the Premiership with them I'll never know
Exactly! That's the key. At one point in the second half on Sky I saw Mariappa shout "Malky!" before throwing it... Hmmm...
I thought that today it was hopeless lumping it into the box. Hyppia, Carragher and Agger all at the back with Crouch coming back to do some defensive work, we couldn't win a header against that lot unless we had a step-ladder.
What is SO infuriating is when we win the flick on and it drops into space about 8 yard out. Why hasn't AB instructed somebody to be in and around that area ? Somebody like Kevin Phillips who is a poacher and somebody who i think we missed a trick on when he became available in August.
We have never really had an 'edge of the area' shooter since Richard Johnson I guess. Malky just fouls anyone when he goes up for throws.
It's not a matter of an edge of the box shooter, we need a poacher who can judge the flick ons and get there first.
We need to start practicing set pieces in training. Anyone that goes regularly to the Vic knows whats coming. Although the free kick today was a nice change!!
For that team thats supposed to be reliant on set pieces we're remarkably poor at them. How many of our corners don't get past the first man? How often do we score from the long throws? in fact, how often do we even make a chance from them?
