    Appalling decision, comedy refereeing.

Up there with one of the softest straight reds i've ever seen. Astonishing decision.

Clip for those that haven't seen it:

To be fair to the ref, he's not looking at all and it's right in front of the linesman. But the speed of the red card is amazing, it's three seconds between the flag being waved and him reaching for his pocket for something he didn't even see. I don't really get why he didn't go over and talk to the linesman before giving the decision.

Forde was being fouled as he looked to spin in behind and looked like he pushed the guy off/lashed out but not with any real force.

Every season the refereeing in this country seems to get worse. What a disgraceful red card, no doubt that'll be overturned.

To be fair they're all mic'd up these days, so the act of going over to speak face to face is largely a pantomime done for dramatic effect and/or to buy the officials breathing space. I agree 3 seconds is pretty swift to have conveyed what happened and for the ref to decide what to do about it!

This is exactly why they do it. Even if the conversation (through the earpiece) would be the same, the act of going over and having a discussion with the official who had the best view, is a much more effective way of selling the decision. The way the ref went about it makes it look rushed, and like a bit of a guess. I wouldn't want to call it a disgraceful decision until I'd seen the assistant's POV; it's not 100% clear what Forde has done after the tangle with the defender, could be an aggressive kick out, or maybe a throw of the elbow? Would be soft, and maybe a little harsh, but could see why it's given, in that case.

It's interesting that Forde's teammates don't seem particularly incensed by the decision, and even Forde doesn't look that confused by it.

Fair point. I'm not so bothered about where the conversation takes place rather that the speed of decision making here was astonishing. Although having said that, it's human nature to go over to speak to someone if they're close, you wouldn't phone someone sat twenty metres away in the same office!

Can only guess the linesman said 'Red card, red number X, punch in face' or something similar and as he ref hadn't seen it, he realised decision wasn't going to change so went with linesman instantly.

Granted, getting a bad injury didn't help, but neither did simply not loaning him out and giving him a chance to play football. Then, when we did loan him out, it was to the second tier in Germany, which, even if the level wasn't too high (it's higher than he's ever played before), it is a different culture, I know he was born there but does he speak the language having left as a young kid? He's going well in League 1 now, it's not a stretch to say he could have done exactly this 2 years ago

Kali getting minutes and praise for his performances for Lusanne. This has happened to a lot of loanees before. The question is…

why does the club feel the need to lie about players injury situation, fitness, etc? Its happening with Healy this year and has happened in the past with other players, Penaranda and Pusetto were 2 others

What have they lied about particularly?

Did they say Kalu was injured or not picked before he left?

Seems to have a super fan though !

TBH Ismael has said he doesn’t think Healey is fully fit yet .

Thought I'd do a little updating tracking the progress of some of our loanees.

    Shaq Forde:

    - Has only clocked up 782 mins in the league so far (8.7 full 90s) - 30% of available mins
    - Despite that he's chalked up 5 goals (from 2.8 xG) and one assist (from 2.07 xGA) and is Orients 2nd top scorer, despite playing relatively few minutes.
    - Watched a lot of his clips this season and I'm excited. Great finisher + some really nice movement around the penalty area makes him a big threat in the final third. Good pace and ability on the ball although can sometimes struggle beating his man 1 vs 1 (lots of similarities of when Sema is running at someone imo). Presses well and is relatively unselfish (as much as you can expect a 19 year old attacker to be anyway!) at playing team-mates in. Seems to hold his own physically.
    - Has generally adapted very well to life in L1, which is a big jump from the NL for a youngster.
    - Would like him to nail down becoming a regular starter. If he can do that and continue doing what he has been doing, then I can see him being in the Watford first team squad next season. If not then I can see him going on loan again, preferably to a L1 side where he'll be starting every week.
    - Below some of his highlights + all his goals and assists this season

    Kwadwo Baah

    - Has played a good amount of minutes (1160 - 12.9 full 90s). Has chalked up 2 goals (0.58 xG) + 1 assist (1.54 xGA)
    - Nobody in L1 (>600 mins played) has attempted more dribbles with 5.98 dribbles per 90 mins - the next nearest is 4.54. He also tops the league for most successful dribbles and most failed dribbles per 90. So he likes to dribble - a lot!
    - Feel like he lacks end product, gets bums off of seats with his skills and ability on the ball but struggles to turn that into goals/chances for both him + the team
    - Not afraid to get stuck in and tries to work hard, but defensively he's pretty ineffective.
    - Movement around the penalty area is mostly poor, doesn't get into positions where he can really hurt teams enough
    - Don't think he's really kicked on since I saw him play for Rochdale, a shame as there's potential for a really exciting player - but can't see him making the step up to the Championship sadly.

    Ashley Fletcher

    - Has played 533 mins (5.9 full 90s). Has scored 0 goals (from 1.33 xG) and 0 assists (0.08 xGA)
    - Rancid. Terrible decision even on a free transfer. Will be on loan in L1 next season and a quick descent down the leagues will follow. We'll still have 2 years left on his contract in the summer.

    Ferreira

    -
Pointless doing stats as has split his minutes 50/50 between CB and RB which will distort the whole thing. Do we have a recall clause for Jan?

    Kalu

    - Don't have the SB package to see his stats anymore, but has picked up 3 goals + 2 assists so far, with some really decent finishes in there.

Encouraging news about Forde, he seems the most promising of the lot, might have a chance of making it here one day.
Good to see Baah finally get some regular minutes, not surprising he's not kicked on since Rochdale considering how little he played in the next two seasons, but I wouldn't give up on him yet considering he's still green.
Pretty sure I read an interview he gave to the Sheffield press on here that Fletcher's contract expires at the end of this season? Either way, he's not going to play for us again.
Senior players who get loaned out to Udinese very rarely have a future with us, highly doubt we see Ferreira again, isn't the rumour that he and Martins both make permanent moves soon?
Kalu has never been a bad player, he's looked bright for us coming off the bench for cameos, but he's just never been able to stay fit (cue jokes about his age), hope he does well and we can get some decent cash for him

Was at Cambridge - Leyton Orient on NYD, Shaq Forde had a bit of a stinker sadly, probably the worst Orient player on the day, passing was sloppy and he was pocketed by their left back. Although he was incredible against Bolton when I saw him then, so it was probably an off day more than anything on Mon. Agree with those who've said he has high potential, seems better as a striker than out on the wing, although I've only seen limited of him.

Didn't play much. I selected "Shots, Smart Passes, Through Passes, Key Passes, Attacking Duels + Dribbles" and it gave me the following highlights video (MLS only, not gonna count his MLS Next Pro games):

I've watched all his actions, he loses the ball a lot - linked with this his touch is often quite heavy and he often struggles to beat defenders 1 vs 1. Give him space and/or let him make runs in behind though and he looks very dangerous as he's very quick. You can see sparks of a quality player in there but ultimately he's still very raw and a way off Championship level imo

We've terminated his loan which is interesting. Was getting a good amount of minutes. Wonder we've got a Champ loan lined up for him or whether he might even come into our first team squad?

    Edit: Ah, he's injured. Great.

Hamstring injury. Makes me wonder whether it's a 2-3 month job and so no point continuing the loan?
