http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-26187730 "Websites can link to freely available content without the permission of the copyright holder, the European Court of Justice says."
Doesn't look like it, as the streams shouldn't be free. This is basically saying you were allowed to link to the bbc, like you just did.
But the website is passing the wall not the linker? Therefore it is risk-free for us to post them as it is 'free content', it is the risk of the website?
Interesting. Like most legal mumbo jumbo it's not 100% clear. If I understand correctly its the site that hosts the stream, which gets around a pay per view system or which re-broadcasts copyrighted material that is in the wrong. If the source is freely available then linking to it is permissable. By extrapolation you should be able to link to images and videos on othert peoples sites without fear of prosecution. Copy &pasting the material, effectively serving from your own site would be illegal. One for SM#16 to take a view on as it's his nadgers on the chopping block. Forum rules remain unchanged until further notice.
I would imagine SM#16 won't want to take the risk of this place being shut down or sued or something.
