I was in the love camp, now in the hate camp, agree about the injuries but am fickle and still blame him (should be looking after his players better / sticking a rocket up the arse of the medical team)
You are right he has only played 30mins and conceded 3. So anything less than 9 conceded in a full game will be an improvement.
That lineup looks so average. Karnezis will go off injured for Bachmann after 20 mins of play and Pereyra will be taken off half time for Gray when it should have been Watson. Wing backs are going to be sucked into Mahrez's and Albrighton's pockets for the whole game. This will lead to Janmaat vacating his position and moving onto the Right Wing - simply because he will get bored of being turned inside out by Albrighton every 20 seconds There will also be a last minute substitution of Okaka for Zeegelaar due to the desperation of getting the last minute equaliser. During that time though, Kabasele will be forced to cover the left back as well as marking "cheetah legs" Vardy which would ultimately lead to our last minute conceding goal from a Leicester counterattack which came from a 20 minute spell of Watford in control but doing absolutely nothing in front of goal.
Gray for Deeney, Holebas for Zeegelaar, almost any player for Watson (guess Capoue). I simply cannot understand why Gray gets dropped every time he scores. Deeney did well last week but he’s hopeless up front on his own. Bring him on with Gray alongside him if we are losing.
Way too pessimistic. We have Carrillo, Richarlison, one of the division’s best b2b midfielders in Doucoure and a hungry looking Deen. Defence is a worry but it’s game on.
There is no reason for it to affect Gray’s confidence. The reaction to his goal showed a good relationship between Deeney and Gray and Gray will expect to get on when the game gets tired, which he may relish. He will understand the tactical reasons and all he’ll care about at the moment is that he has 2 in 2.
Holebas is out sick. Everyone has said that Deeney changed the game last week. Deeney is not hopeless on his own. Maybe better in a 2 but that wasn’t going to happen away at Leicester and with lack of options in CM. You have to be realistic at times. You might not agree with the team but it’s not hard to see why he has picked who he has. Give him a break.
Apart from 4 players, that’s a Championship side we’ve selected today. Maybe it will be a giant killing result? But my gut feeling is it’s going to be a hideous day for us today.
I think Deeney is dreadful on his own. Many others do as well. You don’t. Fair enough. FWIW I defend Silva more than most on here so pipe down with the give him a break.
I don’t see who anybody expected him to pick? Crapoue over Watson? Holebas over Zeegs? Maybe should’ve kept Mason!
I don't think it will be a heavy defeat but on our current form i cannot see a win or even a draw. Probably 2.0. I don't think Deeney upfront will work against their defence but I wouldn't have had any extra faith in Gray. Even at full strength today would have been tough.
Fair enough. But my initial questions were answered by you when they were posed to someone else. But I appreciate your response and your feelings. I would argue that plenty sat the same about Gray as they do about Deeney so Silva would have been criticised whoever he picked - unless it was both. And that wasn’t going to happen today. I would argue that when we played them on Boxing Day, we played Richarlison up front and it didn’t work as he got outmuscled so we brought on Okaka - so I can see why he has chosen Deeney over Gray as he will stand up against their CB’s.
Yes that’s true. I just hope that if we do go behind we switch to 4-4-2 second half rather than surrender in our set formation.
Says the man with "Stay Pozzotive" for his signature ! I'm going for a Watford win, with Doucore bundling in the winner with his nobby.
Le lets hope! Karnesis to play a blind and be hailed as best keeper for years and Silva shows his tactical nouse.
With the players we have left yes. Would still be nice to see us give it a go if it’s the usual poor performance. Soton is the only time we tried Deeney and Gray I think when losing.
Only debatable in terms of whether he’d be good enough for Championship... With you regarding the other six, though.
We were doing relatively ok, until the inevitable generic defensive error from a generic Pozzo squad drone.
