At least the guy looked like he knew what to do with the ball and how to do it!! Ok so he had a touch of nerves and some bad luck playing in a team that was woefully poor and without tactics...

But he has just stepped up TWO leagues, give him a break, I think he will be a fantastic player for us!!

Looked out of his depth to be honest and he really didn't look like he knew what to do with it other than take a horrid touch and run it out of play Clint Easton stylee.
He may be a good player for us in the future but that doesn't make him exempt from criticism. Poor performance.

I think it does exempt him from criticism for the next month or so. It's not fair to project our collective disappointment in Aidy's January buys onto the players he signed. They can't help it. Hoskins is young and was doing something impressive somewhere else before he signed (unlike Williams and the Frenchies) so he deserves the benefit of the doubt. It was highly unlikely he'd just turn up and score anyway, so time is what we need to give him.

I agree hes had a only a few games, and is a young and hungry player with potential , get off his back. :)

Thats the reason why it wasn't really the kind of signing we needed. Boothroyds done an amazing job here but some of the signings he has made really baffled me! Why do we need 7 or 8 center midfielders!??!

Exactly! We only needed 4-5 players MAXIMUM in the window! He's overloading the squad like Colin did at Sheff utd...he's known for buying millions of strikers, we're known for buying millions of centre midfielders!

Adie knows we were going down at the beginning of January, therefore explaining why he has bought players in for the long term, not the short term. The only player at this club that could of perhaps kept us up was Marlon. People say we are not a one man team, but honestly I feel that we are in many respects.

Hoskins, Henderson and Kabba will come good next season when they can get more of the ball and more chances to score.

hoskins may be one for the future but we dont need a striker for the future we have priskin and at the moment and where we are now we need a striker who can score now! it may be a big step up and we dont really have any tactics apart from hoof it to henderson, but his play on saturday was poor and he deserves some critism

Priskin and Hoskins are completely different players and in my mind Hoskins is the better.

As for needing someone who can score now - sure you're right but if none will come, what can you do? Pay 70k a week like wet spam or take the plunge and come back ready?

I have no doubts Hoskins is a real talent, and will prove to be a real bargain.

If you just think about the difficulties the team have moving up one division, and compare that to the immediate challenge he has, it is highly improbable that he could continue his recent goal tally immediately.

The balance of the team is not right - the strikers are not being fed with enough decent balls whether from the wings or through the middle, their shots are mainly half chances, which is half the reason Hendo is struggling.

Just check who the goals scorers have been this season - it tells it`s own story.

Some of the new boys are out in the reserves tonight against Pompey - so it will be interesting to see how they go.;D

what you need to remember is that us and you play a different style of play. by the looks of it your team plays the long ball game, hoskins isnt that good in the air. we played the passing game. put through balls for him to run onto. if we did kick it long, facey won all the balls for hoskins.

he will come good, just give him get behind him

What we all have to remember Kimi is we are talking about the Prem.

Our game may not be suited to him yet and he was played out of position second half (although he should have been taken off at HT) but he bottled a decent chance to shoot late in the game to pass to Kabba. Anyone with confidence would have gone for it.

It is a massive step up in class, time on the ball and adapting to new styles is difficult but do not be so sure he can do it. I so want him to succeed but I am far from convinced.

Ashley Young was not having a great season but his performances have been put in perspective by the contribution, or lack so far, of their game. I only think it is now that us supporters are starting to realise how much Ash was doing this season and our results may have been hiding this.

the prem is very different to our league. you have to take that chace when it comes, also the crowds are different, he was playing in frount of 6000, now its more like 20,000

Kimi, I believe you when you talk about what Hoskins did for you, and I believe he has some talent, but he had an opportunity to rifle one in the back of the net and he bottled it.

If he had tried and missed we could talk about the difference in quality between the leagues, but since he bottled it, only he knows why.

I really dislike the "he's new, let him off" excuse, he played poor and he needs to know where he's going wrong.....

I'll critiscise players if they play bad, whether it's their 1st, 100th or 250th appearance.... either way, you play bad you deserve what you get in my opinion... the amount of money these lot are on i think they should be able to go out and give a half decent performane week in/week out etc, perhaps i'm asking for to much but i spose thats just me!

Will has played poorly and if he doesn't imrpove in the next few games it will be him on the bench in place of Kabba i should think....

I'm sure i'll get a few moans from this....

The problem is though, he'll never fit into our system as long as the long ball tactic stays in use and the longer this goes on the more stick he'll get, not neccessarily his fault but until aidy sorts it out not much will change...

I think the signing of Williams and our displays against Blackburn, West Ham and the beginning of the Man U game are indicative of Aidy viewing our future as employing a more on the ground approach.

I thought Hoskins looked ok against Villa, lost against Manure and pretty poor against Bolton - but as a team we were crap against Bolton.

I hope the guy understands that we are playing poorly at the moment and he should not judge his performances against this level - he should aim to be so much better. I think he has the ability from the little we have seen but he needs to have the confidence and not be overawed - he is cocky by nature and now is the time to show it.

I don't really think Hoskins stood out particularly in an overall shytty team performance. I can think of at least 3 or 4 who should stand up to take the flack before him.

My problem is not with Hoskins or any of the new signings. Its the fact our team is far ******* than it was before this season imo. Losing KIng and Young who could have potentially made it at this level and gaining sum wishy washy players that obviously cant YET! We dont have time. If we go down im pretty sure well struggle next season like the majority of clubs that go down. espeically the smaller ones.
