Shame. Decent bloke and always be seen as GT's number two. Did wonders here, good stint at Millwall as well. Hope he can land a nice job somewhere, he still has coaching talent and maybe Portsmouth wasn't the right fit.
Must have tried multiple Jackettts if so,he was there for four years! Still it can be tricky finding the right garment!
I think he did well but they kept missing out at the last moment and don't think they were happy with his style of play and tactics.
A great player for us, but an average manager. Basically sacked after leading Watford to our lowest league finish in over a decade. Since then he has a long solid career as a poor mans Chris Houghton. Somehow I doubt he will get another job at a League 1 club. It’s a tough brutal business as a professional football club manager and he has a creditable promotion to the Championship for Wolves on his CV, so I hope I am wrong and he gets another club for next season.
Did a good job at Swansea too, getting them promoted from League 2 two years after they almost went out of the Football League, and then got them to the League 1 play-off final the very next season, but it seems many Swansea fans don't agree. And Wolves too don't forget, absolutely dominated League 1 at the first attempt and were very unlucky not to get to the play-offs in 2014/15. Don't know why Pompey sacked him, he had a good win-to-loss ratio there, but I guess they have high expectations and based on their history they shouldn't be below the Championship, where they haven't been for almost a decade.

I think he met the grade. Lasting four years these days is an achievement especially if your not winning trophies. Has anyone took the Doncaster job ? That could be a good fit for him but maybe he’ll be happy with some time out of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree with others on here, but not VOR, . I am slightly biased, as I played football with Kenny as a mate in my teenage years (and I was better than him ), and our dads were mates too, but I think he has not done bad at all being in management for 16 years with varying degrees of success, and compared with many ex players in management, he has done well. A 50% win ratio at any club is good and he got that at Portsmouth.
Not that many managers get to have the careers he has had, Watford, QPR, Swansea, Millwall, Wolves, Portsmouth in no particular order! I think that’s a success!
My Millwall supporting mate says they loved him down there. Incidentally, Kenny features throughout 'Family' - Michael Calvin's excellent book about Millwall, which I think any football fan would enjoy reading
The opinion from people who've worked with him was that he's a fantastic coach, but doesn't really have enough personality to be as good a manager. He's a good guy though. His dad Frank (RIP) sat next to me for years in the old East Stand.
Near to us, then, all those years ago. Kenny seems to be well-respected wherever he's worked. Certainly not a failure, as some people have suggested, but I can maybe see how he might not set the place alight, personality-wise; just a thoughtful, experienced coach. I hope he hasn't been given the sack because of his illness. He's 59 and professional football coaching is a brutal business.
