As Markoa$ said yes. He has more physical presence, better balance, more pace and more awareness off the ball of those around him. He's not on Asprilla's level but he's well on the way to being a very decent nine. A quite traditional nine.
Permit issues I think IBB. He'd be more than ready to go in the Chump and a whole lot better than what we have. Rob not sending on Bayo when Manaj went off says a lot about his faith in his abilities. When Davis is fit it looks like five million wasted.
Which makes it either incompetent in the extreme to sign them ( Bayo and A Trois) or crooked. Take your pick.
Might be a tremendous prospect for all we know, but surely coming in from the Colombian second division would be a step too far, both in terms of quality and style of play?
That's my thinking. Asprilla looks exciting and is likely at a decent Championship standard already, but Hurtados been playing in a much much worse league. I hope I'm wrong but I'd be surprised if we were bringing him in for this season.
Agreements reached verbally, deal should be done within next couple of hours. Likely to stay at Real Cartagena on loan until end of the season, possibly longer. https://twitter.com/PSierraR/status/1565019991396712449?s=20&t=cwiN3vf-_3QBM1t6ltdGdA
Seems odd to keep him there on loan as it won't help him get a work permit, and from the start of June he'll begin to lose his points earned from playing in the Toulon tournament this summer. I can only wonder if the Colombian national team will do us a favour in giving him a cap in a friendly as they did with Asprilla.
No idea if we actually signed him but he hasn't played since we were first rumoured to be getting him. Another youngster's career successfully ruined by Watford FC.
Signed until 2029. Or until he realises we're an awful club and wants out and we are forced to sell for peanuts because we're skint.
To be fair you can like or hate the Pozzos…but in terms of South American signings they certainly have an ok hit rate. Best of luck to this chap.
I heard from the Head of Recruitment at a Championship club it's not that hard to get work permits for U21 players as it basically goes to a exceptions panel straight away and as long as they have some youth caps they'll usually approve it. He played for Colombia U20 at a good level tournament over the summer so hopefully will get one
He didn't, but I was confused in the summer as to how Sunderland managed to sign and get a work permit for a 19 year old (Abdoullah Ba) who had only played 5 games in Ligue 2 (a band 4 league) last season so that would explain it (he plays for France U19)
6 year deal? Poor sod. He should get to play under at least 12 head coaches in that time so it won't be boring for him at least.
