For those of you still hoping for Adam Johnson to come back to the Vic I think your hopes have been dashed. The Evening Standard today claims that Spurs are to seal a £5.5m deal for him in January.
So he'll be warming the Spurs bench rather than the Boro bench then. The way we are playing there is no chance he'll come here anyway...he'll want to sign for a Football team, not a Rugby team! HOOF.
Didn't do too bad when he was here did we? Got to be at least be putting in bids for proper footballing players otherwise we will never progress from being a hoofing team.
We're not going to compete with the likes of Spurs for transfers so we can all stop that kind of thinking now! Boothroyd is going to have to pull out a couple of gems in January but it's not looking great on that front considering his previous in this area. I listened t his 3CR interview on Saturday and I have to admit I'm getting a little bored now of the same answers with no change. I except team go through bad patches but like lots of people have said, if we had been playing sublime football when winning the fans would not be worrying as much as they are now.
I know we cannot compete with Tottenham and the like, but firstly we don't know whether the rumour is true, and secondly I wasn't meaning to specify with Johnson, but we have got to be ambitious and put bids in for players like Johnson (skilled players who will most probably succeed in the premiership)
Agree on both counts. Have to admit I'm a bit surprised by Spurs going in for Johnson! He did great for us but he's not exactly proven is he!
I'm a bit suprised as well. He's doing well at Middlesborough, (and did quality here) but he's not even established himself in their first team. Tottenham seem to like buying young english players (Dawson/lennon etc) so good luck to Johnson if he goes there, but he'll definately be warming the bech for them there, at least to start off with.
5 million. a bargain sign him now :angel3: well arn`t moving forward with all these freebie and cheaper players are we................. oh 4 million ................. erm well we`ve [aidy] hasn`t given him a chance. yet !
Has he actually played for Foolham yet? Whilst we're on the subject of ambitious targets, i seem to recall reading somewhere in the last few days that Tom Huddlestone has been told he's surplus to requirements under Ramos at Spurs. Now theres a ball playing midfielder like we've all been crying out for.
Huddlestone - the only balls he is good at playing with are Ash's when there away on international duty and Ash is on the internet. I honestly don't think I have seen a more lazy midfielder.
