Experienced full back that knows how to get promoted out of the Championship, seems like what we need.
I've heard we need someone like that Dawson fella. Where's he playing these days? Might put it in the suggestions thread.
Don't really 'buy' this logic tbh. If they are a good, natural left-footed wing-back, then we should get them in. Sema is best used further forward and it adds depth. Not really think it's about having 'first-team' and 'backup' players. They're all going to get plenty of playing time.
I heard we need to pay these sorts of extortionate fees over a few years. Can't afford to borrow against the stadium.
Play Sema further forward where, in a 5-3-2? I think he suits the wing-back role perfectly, imo. It would be fantastic to have a squad of 20 high quality players who can all interchange without lowering the quality of the starting 11 but I don't think it's that realistic at this level, and in our situation.
Joe Bennett transfer news, people! Not surmising on Ken Sema's best position or what a nuclear grade **** Danny Rose is or was. Yes, I am getting twitchy about having a left back who can tackle or block crosses signed up in the next 48 hours.
I agree in part - but I really doubt we ever sell the move to a player as them coming in as backup - we don’t have the pedigree as a club to do that. It will be sold as part of coming into the squad and if you deserve to play, you will. I really doubt we are calling round left-sided players and seeing which one of them is happy to play second fiddle to King Ken.
Exactly. We don’t owe any loyalty to any of the players - if we can bring someone in better in any position, then we should do so. Being too loyal to some of them is what has partially landed us where we are now.
And a player like Joe Bennett could say yes to that arrangement. Danny Rose, for example, would probably want more assurances of a first team place.
