Jay was on the bench for the game, and I thought he may make an appearance late in the second half, but Coach Bob Bradley chose to sub in Jonathan Spector instead around the 80'.

We'll have to wait until the next friendly to see him in a US Nats shirt I think.

The score was already 3-1 at that point. Despite the score Ecuador's forwards were dangerous all game long, and frankly I think Bradley was not sure Jay could handle them, though that's just a guess.

    NOTES from the game:
Landon Donovan (David Beckham's soon-to-be-teammate at the Galaxy) scored all three US goals. The first came 44 seconds into the game, and then two more within 60 seconds of each other around the 67' mark.

Lando is an infuriating talent...he shows up HUGE in international friendlies and vanishes in important games when we really need him.

    No doubt...

That is the big picture, but the details are way more infuriating.
He always talks about being "comfortable" when he plays. That's the excuse he gave for leaving Leverkusen the second time...he wanted to get back to the Beach where he's comfortable. Seriously he said that. He is terribly unprofessional. (I wish I could genetically hybridise Landon, Brian McBride and Jay Demerit to make a super player."

He says variations on that all the time, and it makes us Galaxy fans want to shoot him in cold blood.

Nevertheless, when he's on, he is ON. I just wish he'd been on when it counts, not just when he's "comfortable". He doesn't come to the Riot Squad much since he knows how we feel about him.

You'd feel the same way about him as I do if he was a Hornet: "I'm glad he's on my team infuriating me rather than on someone else's scoring against me."

He has the worst taste in music, too.

i can see that would annoy to the point of gun crime, but i gotta respect him for that. he's honest and just having a good time. if he puts lazing about on the beach above personal success then more power to him i say!

Honest to the point of idiocy.
Problem is he is the best player the US has, so he doesn't sit...he plays every minute of every game.

So if he isn't "comfortable", he just sinks the team's effort.

Though he makes more than Demerit and less than Shittu, your point is taken...

If I could get paid anything to live at the beach and exercise, I'd be ecstatic.

Since we are talking about Lando, the Galaxy had a pre-season friendly/charity match last week at a local college. One of my buddies was lit up on whiskey (they don't sell beer so people improvised...let's just say it was mixed in results...). Anyway, he disappeared for a while and then all of a sudden we saw him walking along the sidelines up to the Galaxy bench. He stopped in front of Donovan, told him to scoot over and sat down. He then spent about ten minutes lecturing him drunkenly very likely on the subject above. He doesn't remember. He had that Galaxy trainer on so he fit right in with some of the other cats around the pitch. Finally one of the assistant coaches noticed that his highness was being bothered and ushered him off the field.
No one knows how he got onthe field, or what was said, but here is proof it happened. Check out the guy on the left catching a whiff of whiskey breath and wondering what the fudge is going on...

No no...he sold Han and the crew out to Vader, Boba Fett and the Empire, then spent the next two movies trying to make up for it. I would have kicked his ass off Cloud City, but I'm on the dark side.

In my estimation, anyone named Lando is soft minded and unreliable.
