Liverpool want Dembele on loan from Barca. Remember Liverpool weren't willing to spend £15m or whatever it was on Jamal Lewis. If they don't like our asking price, they will move on to other targets.
Sadly I believe you're right. It was more in hope than anything. It would soften the blow of both Sarr and Capoue leaving. That's if they are.
There is a 'Media Watch' section on the Liverpool website. Yesterday they posted a load of Thiago stories. Today the 'featured story' (and only Sarr story as it happens) is this: https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/me...rice-for-ismaila-sarr-amid-liverpool-interest Any reason they have chosen a story saying the asking price is in excess of £40m when there are many articles quoting £36m, £30m+ etc?
Grujic wasn't in their squad last year so wouldn't count as opening up a foreign player space if he were to leave.
Unless they had a space free and after coming back he’s now filled it? I haven’t looked that far back. But yes, you could be right - he may not even be in their squad. What’s clear just by doing a quick google is that to get Sarr, they need to free up space.
Now we know the WO isn't the most reliable, but they say £40m wouldn't be enough for us to sell. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...ol-manchester-united-interested-ismaila-sarr/
An encouraging read - but sadly when the journalist states we have ‘no need to sell’, that’s where it loses credibility.
Depends on how you interpret it. Do Watford need to sell? Yes. Do Watford need to sell any one player? No.
Estupinan had one year left on his deal (allegedly) and probably never intended to play for us, Doucoure didn't have a good season, isn't young and isn't homegrown and actively wanted to leave, neither of those apply to Sarr (as far as we know anyway). Only way we sell for cheap is if it gets to the end of the window and we're absolutely desperate to make ends meet having made no sales since Estupinan
If the Pozzos let him go for less than £50m up front, plus add ons, then they need to adjust their own heads by wobbling them.
Liverpool stepping up their interest in Jota from Wolves - who's looking to leave. Would be huge for us if he goes there.
Was about to post this. Shared by Paul Joyce who is probably the most reliable journalist covering Liverpool. Jota mysteriously left out of Wolves’ squad last night (an otherwise full strength XI) and Nuno was very very cagey when asked why. Clearly an alternative to Sarr. I am (unfortunately) confident that Liverpool will raise the funds. Looks like there about to sell Ki-Jana Hoever to Wolves for £10m(!) - he’s hardly had any senior football so they’ve done well to get that fee. Could sell Grujic, Origi, Shaqiri, Wilson, maybe Wijnaldum too. But as we saw with Jamal Lewis, if they don’t like the price they’ll move on. Hoping that happens.
He actually drove away from the ground before kick off and supposedly wants out - this combined with a Paul Joyce tweet is music to the ears. At minimum it means they are looking at other options given the price we've put on Sarr.
