Thing is, the European Window doesn't slam shut for a couple of weeks, so more of a priority to get the Welbeck deal sealed first.

 

That might be the case Moog, but can we sign a contracted player from a European club after our window has slammed shut, I don't think we can, or can we?

“Well my offer is on the table. I’m not prepared to wait to see if you get more money. You can either accept it and we progress with a deal or I withdraw the offer. And if Palace fail so sell Zaha, you end up with no money and a player who wants to move. Choice is yours.”

The problem is that Boris doesn't have anything worth as much as either Sarr or Zaha... and of course he has to negotiate not just with the EU, but two sets of Irish.. plus the Scots, the Welsh and... I forget who else. I feel like there's somebody.

Once we're past all that, there's the key difference that I think Gino is likely perceived as honest - which tends to help in negotiations.

 

I suppose our national equivalent to Zaha would be the Queen.

Probably. Why spend a bit of money on an extremely promising young player and play him in his correct position, when we can just sign a crock striker on a free and shoehorn him out on the wing? Then we he gets injured we can go back to shoehorning Hughes there instead.
