Got the number 77 shirt at Palace. Breaking rules already. http://www.wfcforums.com/index.php?goto/post&id=2561168#post-2561168
I rarely host, much more of an attendee! But on the rare occasion, I tend to host in far more ‘spit and sawdust’ establishments!
Leventhal has tweeted again - with pretty much the same cut and paste tweet as the last few. His Rennes ‘source’ says the player expected back in France on Mon/Tues when Rennes return from China. (So doubt any more face to face discussions will be had with the Rennes President this week - IMO) One new bit of info. Sarr is on holiday in Senegal. That’s it.
Apparently it’s the phasing of the fee that is the problem. We are proposing to pay £1m a year for the next 24 years. Rennes seem to have a problem with that, so we should take our money elsewhere
Nope. You told us he was on holiday (which we had been told previously anyway) - no one until now has specified where he is on Holiday! So....new info.
Presumably taking a while to take it elsewhere though as Gino brought it with him in jars of pennies?
Talking of which: Renato was a fan of Aston Villa F.C. and during the early 1990s was asked by manager Ron Atkinson to sing "Nessun dorma" at half time following a particularly poor first half performance by the team.[3] On completion of his performance Atkinson told the players "Now that is passion! Go and show me some of that in the second half".
Can we just close this thread and except that this is never ever happening. We are going to end up with Matt Phillips.
Heard this was off after he spoke to Doucouré to ask what the Rennes to Watford experience was. He got told they'd sign him, loan him straight to Spain without telling him that's the plan, then try and bin him off on loan back to France but mess the paperwork up, then play Ben Watson ahead of him, finally put him in the team when there's an injury crisis, watch him play brilliantly and then price him out of moving anywhere else so he's stuck here forever
I asked the penguins here in Antarctica if they thought we were signing anyone and they replied "Sarr, Sarr", so this could well be on. Though they also might have been saying "squarrk, squarrk".
Tommy Smith’s third coming.......that sadly ended up with him becoming an estate agent - 99 pages and counting
Hate to say it but getting more and more of a feeling that this has ‘talks have broken down’ about 3 hours before the deadline written all over it. As it stands, CRAIG DAWSON is our main summer signing. Let that sink in. Then look at the business Wolves, Everton, Leicester and even West Ham have done. All teams we competed with for most of last season. Not good enough.
I can’t help but feel 75% of this post would have been better kept back for the day after the transfer window closes. We can’t say it’s not good enough until then. The FA Cup semi-final wasn’t good enough 60 mins in - didn’t turn out too bad though. Let’s see what happens between now and then? There’s still clubs who want to do plenty note business and SSN has been awash with interviews in the past few days from managers saying the window is now finally moving. If talks do break down,I expect the club will move on much earlier than 3hrs before the deadline. Gino and Co didn’t strike me as ‘Deadline Day’ businessmen - I personally think if we haven’t done any business by the day before, we won’t do any. I think they like to be in control and if Rennes want to drag it out until then, I expect we will be out of the running well before then.
They'll always outspend us, yes, but the past 18 months we've spent more like a League One club than a Premier League one in regards to transfers. I know we can't go splashing tens upon tens of millions in every window and there's still a bit of time left in this one, but we are on the verge of going into yet another season with abysmal, now even old centre backs, a 35 year old first choice left back and a sub-par second choice one, no wingers, and one striker likely capable of scoring 10+ a season. If we actually don't sign some more quality in this window then I'd say there's a strong case to say we'll go down. A couple of long term or even semi long term injuries to the likes of Deulofeu and Doucoure and we are done.
This season will be the first time none of the pundits tip us for relegation, and it will be the season we go down. It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife.
You say that but we brought Quina at the last minute last year. Gray and Richarlison were signed quite late on in the summer of 2017 I think. Of course there is still time but agree we do need cover or even alternatives in various positions.
