First post as a Canadian footy fan. 36 years young typically an Arsenal fan (don’t crucify me, it happened when Bergkamp was still around) but will be keen on Watford because I’m a big Kone fan. I have been following the rise of our national program for a while and because of this signing thought I’d check out what Watford fans thought of it as well as give my opinion on him. You mostly seem positive. You should be.

He’s raw. Not the sexiest first touch but he has amazing composure for a player his age and especially for in the midfield positions. How that will translate to a faster game in the championship will remain to be seen. Especially for a side like Watford with promotion in mind. How much he can contribute immediately is a question only he can answer. Unlike the Richie Laryea signing by Forrest I think you guys intend to play him a bit. I’m not the most savvy on your current squad admittedly, but everyone seems to be high on him and Laryea is 28 not 20 and had Spence and a couple other good players in his position. The fact that the World Cup happened before the window and not a straight transfer from MLS season play is going to be a big benefit to his transition.

He has some natural instincts for the game but not the quickest decision maker per se. You can tell he has a brain though and wants to make the optimal play. Not a hog looking to do too much. He wants to play proper football. The great thing about him is he appears to be a sponge. A player with confidence who wants to be coached and wants to be good. Lacks a bit of defensive ability, won’t be mistake for Viera but makes up with his athleticism which is S tier. He’s fast box to box and he’s just someone who has the “it” factor. There’s something about him. He’s at least worth a flyer and I will be rooting for both him and Watford for the rest of the way.

Is he a similar type of player to Doucoure? Seems to have the box to box engine.

 

I don’t want to get ahead of myself but he’s 6’2 central player with some talent. He is sort of a raw undeveloped lesser than Yaya Toure. I’m not going to have the same knowledge of players as you guys so I may be thin on true comparisons but he is not just box to box, he can be box to box with the ball at his feet. Not out of his bag to throw in a cheeky nutmeg on his travels.

 

No wonder he chose the nutmeg champions of Europe as the next stage in his development.

 

We could sign someone from Mars and shortly after a Martian would join the forum to tell us all about him and join our supporter base. Incredible.
