Just how fecked off would you be? I want Wigan to play carp, do carp and lose as many games as possible right now but that was just plain disgraceful. The officials were dreadful, Arsenal were Arsenal - moaning and complaining. Wigan were denied 3 points because of the officials - it was blatant. If it had happened to WFC we would all be going ballistic. I hope we give Wigan a good stuffing in 10 days time but they didn't deserve the sh1t they got today. By the way they played really well.
bleh who cares about wigan! You have a point but then again we support Watford so we're allowed to go ballistic! ;D
like it didn't happen first game of the season with us at Everton - alls fair in love and war - we are at war - we need allies like arsenal at the moment. we played em twice and got our humbling - now they have to do the same to our enemies. Berko - you're getting soft now you've missed a couple of games.
us watford fans are too kind! if we we're in that position i'm sure they wouldn't feel sorry for us watford 5-0 ipshit watford 4-0 wigan
It is disgusting how the smaller clubs get treated and Henry was a disgrace with his little performance in front of Kirkland. Having said that I can not remember cheering goals from another team so enthusiastically in my life. Today was massive, we all presumed that Arsenal would win but when it looked as though they wouldn't the whole picture would have changed. 10 points would have been to much at this stage but now we have given ourselves a squeak. How big is the Wigan game now and based on the evidence of today's game (Hesky and Aga-doo look a good strong partnership up front!) it will be a real battle.
bring back the good old days, when a palyer could kick another fairly, tackles from behind, swearing on the pitch, players could stand in front of keepers, players could jump with keepers without getting penalised. Its all gone hairy fairy - blame the people in charge of the game for changing the rules so much, as much as blaming the players.
The smaller teams never get the 50-50 decisions but getting mugged in the box is a different kettle of fish. Stone wall penalty but then you can't go upsetting old Arsene as it might cost the ref a cup final etc.. The Refs want to keep on side of the top four clubs and the smaller clubs are always playing by another set of rules. Henry was a disgrace for his actions and who has also noticed the diving in his game. Mind you old Arsene didn't see a thing as usual, Got to admire the bloody Cheek. ;D ;D ;D
Yeah I'm being serious. Saw it replayed several times over in the pub on the big screen. Heskey's a big lad, there was absolutely no need for him to go down in that situation. If you're gonna try and convince me that the hand on his shoulder was enough to make a lad of his size go down maybe I should ask if you're being serious???
so you would also say that manures penalty against us should not have been given and yesterdays against darius? I haven't seen todays one and am only shyte stirring. but would like your views on the two i mentioned. Also at pompey, we gave a hand on shoulder penalty away.
Demerit had hold of Solskaer's shirt, as did Ferdinand with Hendo. That's a clear pen in my book. Didn't look like shirt pulling to me this afternoon, just some very very minor grappling. I'm not saying I've not seen them given, I just don't think they should be given.
What about yesterdays penalty, barely a touch on hendo, but if you put your hands on the other player in the box, your asking for it.
Sorry i saw you mentioned it, no way was there enough to make hendo go down, but like every good striker when he felt a defenders hand on his shoulder he went down
bout time we got some good luck after the appauling luck we had at the start! Give it to Wigan, let them go back to being good at Rugby and rubbish at footie! ;D
I'm with UEA Totally agree!!!! Spot on!!!! Hendo probably did not need to go down, but he was clearly pulled back, unlike Hesky who was barely touched!!!!
Considering up to and after Arsenal scored and then went ahead they were very dominant. Considering Adebayors goal was onside but ruled out, before the penalty incident happened you could make a suggestion that had the officials got that right Wigan would not have had that claim. Based on this Wigan were not hard done by are due some bad luck - well that's my reasoning and I'm sticking with that. If anyone else wants happy pills I can get a ready supply from a spot in Upperston Park.
It brings back bad memories for me........ Lets face it Berko, we have had MORE THAN OUR FAIR SHARE of bad luck this season, its about time some of our rivals had some. Wigan get no sympathy from me I'm afraid, and in my book, and our resident refs book, UEA, it wasn't a penalty anyway
It wasn't a pen because the ref didn't give it. But put it this way if UEA (Rich) did one of my boys games and didn't give that penalty he would be on report along with the lino. There was two handed contact, Heskey was in on goal ahead of Flamini (spelling) - it doesn't matter if he made the most of it. And the error was also compounded by many other terrible decisions. Luck doesn't come into it - fairness is all we ask for. The point I am making is that again the big guys get the rub of the green because the officials are too poor and scared to make the BIG decisions against the "big" clubs. I have no sympathy for Wigan - as i said i hope they get a good stuffing on Wednesday week -but I do champion the cause of the small clubs to be given a fair crack (and that includes us).
Arsenal yesterday had less ideas than England. They got the ball on the edge of the area and realised they can't shoot long and the one player who can do some sort of penetrative pass is the one who will score. Delighted that they 'managed' it though, even if I was fuming about the continued bias against the little teams, but I wouldn't think Wigan fans are always bemoaning our awful decisions. I don't think the pen was a pen but Jay's had two of those against him, one of which was against Kanu, a bloke bigger than Heskey!
I dunno, i think he was in the wrong for claiming a penalty but if your running like that and someone pulls ya hand, your gonna lose balance! But yeh, i think the fall was genuine but the whole protesting for a penalty was a bit ott
He went head over arse and then did what every striker I've ever come across in my refereeing experience and appeal for something to be given. Hardly crime of the century. I'm not even sure he was trying to win anything - a very lazy claim if so.
