Just for one moment during any part of history and witness something first hand what would it be and why?

For me, it would be watching Ada Byron write the world's first computer program, which if you have never seen it was this:

It calculates Bernoulli numbers (which is an old format of how Integers are today), and was written to be translated onto punch cards that would be fed into the Analytical Engine which was designed by Charles Babbage. His machine was never built due to his passing but people have translated it into modern languages and it does work as intended.

So, there's my techy geeky answer. Where would you travel to?

    You will.

Turns out that he's cracking one out over a future version of you that traveled back in time to see what he is cracking one out over. Closed loop.

I once had the opportunity to watch a newly restored 'Babbage Difference Engine No. 2' solve a series of quintic functions. It was explained to us (a large group from the RCA) by the museum's chief engineer that he would be cranking the handle to churn out the results - it was envisaged that originally this would have been steam powered. Five turns of the handle of the the first five results were neatly printed... and then it seized up. The look of child-like delight on the faces of the various mechanical engineers involved with its decade(?) long restoration when they realised they had the chance of taking it apart of then putting it together again...

I tried the Malbec a while back and it made me gag. Went back to it the following day and it was better but it was still way too sweet.

Can you recommend a different variety?

I quite liked that TV show where Ron Swanson played a baddie and they could basically go back and view stuff in history. Also enjoyed Time Tunnel (I think it was called?) when I was a kid, was before my time but I remember them showing it again.

Wow that's awsome. I have seen the built version of the Engine a long time ago (2008) in the London Science Museum. It was enormous but very impressive. Come to think of it, that time period was what, 1840(ish) and it would of taken years to build back then let alone the financial side of things. It's also pretty lucky Turing found the notes of Lovelace one hundred years later and because of that and the influence of Babbage, Hopper and Turing we have computers at all. That is not to say another person(s) would of come up with the concept eventually, but it does make you wonder how advanced they are now, I mean we can almost be part of a video game through VR. Incredible.

I'm serious. Early Beatles was all rock n roll standards with terrible sound, whilst Stones were obsessed with doing droning covers of blues classics without doing them justice. Would be awful IMO.
    That is so hot

It was a really weird group to experience it with as the vast majority of the RCA crowd were conservators and curators. The conservators were arguing that 'fixing it' was radically altering it and not conserving it in as close to its original state, whilst the curators pointing out that as it was manufactured in 1991 and had a printing mechanism added in 2000 it wasn't an authentic object - it was little more than a pastiche based upon Babbage's original design and was of little historical merit when contextualised wit the other exhibits...

I would probably go back to today's game every week and each time the three points is added to our points total.

I think you need the ‘If you could repeat an event….’ thread.

Your flagrant disregard for the laws of time travel are upsetting, how could you go back in time to the game and have the points added to the total after the point from which you had first travelled back from?

    HOW I ASK YOU?!

Imagine if Bill Murrays’s character Phil Connors had to deal with the cumulative consequences of all of his actions across each time loop in Groundhog Day after the loops ended. The poor bloke would never see the light of day again.

I would go back to 1984 and make sure Andy Gray didnt play a game in May.

I would also like to go back to the 60s so I could meet Austin Powers. I want to know what he was really like.

Lies. We all know you go back to the day Leicester relegated us. Which as proven once on here, was easily the most important moment in the history of your club.
