Didn't GT get us up, keep us up and then nearly win the title in the 80s? I think Aidy has a little way to go yet!
I agree, but even Sir Graham would admit that it was easier in the 80's than it is now. Back in dem good ol' days we only had to worry about teams like Swansea, Notts County and that smelly lot up the road with their plastic pitch. Even Chelsea were in Division 2
It's a start but GT created a revolution. Many of his innovations shaped the club into what we are today.
I was trying to look at it from a then and now perspective, but in way that makes it more diffficult to make a comparison. I think GT will always hold it over Aidy, for the simple fact of getting there first, although Aidy might make a better job of the England post, when (and not if) he gets it!
in the old days you used to be able to swear at the away fans and throw coins at each other, none of this membership and waiting on the phone for 1 ticket and having to sit where you are told to. my phone bill for tickets this seaeson is more than my first season ticket cost.
GT tookm us from the bottom of old div four, to runers up in old league one, to a cup final and to Europe and an 8 year tenure in old div one - If Aidy achieves similar why even compare - they would both be Watford legends of equal standing. Aidy has a long long way to go, but it wil happen.
