So after the 'Owl' swooped in to head us level against Millwall to grab a point in a game really should of won, we're back on the road looking to make it two wins in two on our travels as we return to Yorkshire having licked our wounds after getting battered by Leeds. Huddersfield Town have just appointed a very respected coach in Darren Moore who in my view, is a good manager who's stock is continuing to rise.

Back in the Hotseat: Moore is back after being sacked at Sheffield Wednesday
Huddersfield have had a rather predictably poor start to the season. A bit like us (but no way near as bad) they change managers fairly frequently, still unable to found the right coach to take them back into a side that can challenge for promotion back to the Premiership. Something they have not done since David Wagner. Town began life under the stewardship of everybody's favourite Grandad; Neil 'Colin' Warnock. Known for his tense attitude and harsh halftime rants, he did a good job overall in keeping them in the Championship for as long as he did.

Despite having a well respected C.V, Moore has had a tough introduction to life as Huddersfield boss, having overseen two battering 4-0 defeats, the latest being at Elland Road to rivals Leeds United, a result I am sure did not go down well with their fanbase. Moore still needs time to impact his own gameplan on the side which might take a bit of time. Huddersfield are not a terrible side, they have a few flair players and they can cause teams problems on their day.

Huddersfield and Watford have managed to move away from each other in the league standings having been glued at the hip in the early days of the season. Watford sit in 16th while Town sit in 21st four points above the drop zone. Oddly enough, the gap between 16th and 21st is just three points which shows how congested the Championship is right now.

Three Point Gap: Huddersfield and Watford are not far apart in points
So what are our chances? Well, despite fighting back to grab a late point at the Vic last weekend we are currently enjoying a nice mini revival under VI having gone four games unbeaten. Two draws and two wins in the past two weeks have lifted us from 21st to 16th and for the first time we are hopefully looking upwards again having created a gap between us and the bottom three.

Fan boo boy Louza actually managed to pull his finger out to put in a peach of a cross for big Raj to head the equaliser, but I am still not convinced he is over his sulky ways to start the game at the weekend. Having not seen the game last week I can only take a guess that due to a overall decent performance VI will go with the usual line up again. I just hope he has learnt that it makes sense to change the side during the game when certain players tire or the gameplan is not working. Huddersfield look very suspect at the back as of late, but we are still poor at defending set pieces and I do hope VI has been working on them during this week at least. This is a winnable game for certain, and with another winnable game coming up afterwards, we really need to take advantage of our upturn in form to take maximum points from these next to games. If we can sit on 22pts going into the next International Break, it will put us in a much better position going into the Winter fixtures without looking so much over our shoulders.

Sorry this is up a bit earlier than usual, I wanted something to do while having my ankle strapped up on a cushion. :p

Everything says it should be a Watford win. We're in good form. We've broken our away win duck. We've found some much needed grit in midfield and defence.

    So of course we'll lose

Away wins come round once every 9 months or so.
1-1 but 61% possession and better xG, so all in all, a moral victory.

I have never seen an opposition forum so content that we are going to win. Obviously they haven't seen us play much in games we should win.

Their confidence will be "Watfordy" after recent results so if we start well it could be a good win.
On the other hand we might start in a very "Watfordy" way, go one down - then it will be a grind.
Whichever team plays the least "Watfordy" will probably win.... I have no clue.!

Huddersfield have always been a difficult one to predict. Either playoff challengers or relegation battlers and never really in the middle.

For me it again comes down to set pieces. Can we try to defend them? They've identified it as a problem but seem incapable of solving it.

I am gonna go for -1 - -1 as both teams stumble to a negative bore draw.

That would mean both sides score a goal that is offside. :)

But the real question is can our improving side do it on a cold and wet afternoon is Yorkshire?

Ah yes - if its a cold, wet and blustery afternoon in yorkshire we've got no chance based on recent history...
Maybe for once the wind will fluke us a few goals? 4 - 4

That aside, they are quite a pleasant lot. There's a social club on the way to the ground (the Gas Board Club, or something similar?), where away fans are very welcome, and it's good, old-fashioned 'home fans have pre-match banter with away fans venue'.

All you need to know is that:

"Whoever scores more will win" - Michael Owen (probably)

And I fancy the Owl to terrier-fy Udders on Saturday and scores 7, Dan Bachmann to replicate his karate skills, and a triple substitution around 60 minutes.

    Huddersfield 0-7 Watford (Rajovic 1' 2' 3'(P) 6' 87' 90' 90+5', Bachmann sent off 59')

Next two games are really quite important again teams that are currently 21st/22nd, grab 6 points and there's a good chance we could end up 14 points clear of relegation before some tougher games against Leicester (A), Hull (A), Southampton (H) and Ipswich (H).

    I hope we win.

Helik anytime at 10/1 is a great shout if you're prone to a flutter. They have great set-piece delivery in Sorba Thomas and Helik is likely to be the recipient of those crosses. Considering our woes from set-pieces it looks a decent value bet.

Same here, but I'm not so sure we need to overly worry about playing higher teams? I think we struggle most against the aggressive lower teams historically? We're better against the fancy Dan teams that pass sideways all day.

  31. It was nice a while back. I went last season and it looks dreadfully tired and decaying. I was quite surprised as that doesn't really come across on TV.

I'm there again tomorrow. Short hop on the train from Sheffield for me.

Last season Mrs Willis was outraged at the female toilet facilities: a row of portaloos. Still a great away trip, but we’re not going this time.

  33. Yeah I think I remember that. And the concourse is unprotected from the elements. I remember a few people having a beer in the rain freezing cold with no roof huddled in a corner trying to generate some warmth.

Not a great away day in autumn/winter and I live up here so kinda think I've acclimatised to the colder weather to some degree (before we get called southern softies!).
