Yep and imagine what travel insurance will cost at his age. All stumped up for by us as "TV licence tax" payers. Then they wonder why the BBC need to make cutbacks and cut shows and channels. Parasite.

Norfolk for two weeks in the summer holiday, then Italy for The Ryder Cup in September and then hopefully Iceland in October but that may not happen

I went to Goa over Easter. First time we've been abroad since 2018. It was ******* paradise. One of the best holidays I've had. Just perfection.

Now looking at booking a eurocamp in the summer holidays in the Netherlands or France.

Does anyone have experience of ferries or Eurotunnel? Bit concerned about the stacking that happens in Kent post brexit at busy times.

I like the wildlife holidays in Antarctica so long as you don't fall into the ocean. The cries and anguish of onlookers as yet another penguin or seal is consumed by an orca. Oh the poor thing, Nooooooo, what a nasty creature. People sobbing.

Listen folks this is nature. Red in tooth and claw. Not your visit to Whipsnade.

When is their summer? Wouldn't want to go there when it's cold

Due to global warming you can pretty much guarantee 20 degrees and 8 hours of sunshine all year round nowadays.

Between Novemeber and the end of February is 'high summer' Moog and you can see the Penguins and their bundles of fluff being mobbed by Polar Skuas and giant petrels. Those nasty birds. No, no,no someone do something and shoot them....

My son spent 26 hours at Dover around Easter. He said it was pure chaos

    My daughter had the same.

We either go on the EuroTunnel or the overnight ferry from Harwich to Hook of Holland.

Oh ****. Does that also affect the Eurotunnel? I've never been to Kent.

Eurotunnel can be a disaster zone at busy times, especially coming back.

There is a pro tip, though, for times when it's busy... Get there at least 90mins before your crossing. Get your little paper hanger with a letter on it and then, instead of waiting for the big screens telling you your letter is boarding, just go through early.

The queues at the UK and French passport windows are interminable now so if you wait until your letter comes up on the board you'll still be queuing when your departure time comes and goes and you'll probably get on either the next one of the one after that, at best. If you go through early, you'll still queue for ages but at least you'll be on the departure you booked.

They won't admit it but the whole thing is just a giant free-for-all, first-come-first serve situation now.

Where you going in NL? We've gone to centre parcs over there for the last 8 years as they are so much cheaper.

We get the overnight ferry from Harwich when we go. Couple of beers then sleep.

We are going to a campsite in Limberg. Harwich? Let me look at that.

https://www.stenaline.co.uk/ more expensive as it's overnight, but the boats are new and modern, plus the kids loved (and still do) the whole overnight crossing.

We usually go to Centre Parcs in north Limburg. Been to Venlo several times - nice city, bit like St Albans, and I've been to watch VVV Venlo a couple of times. Nice old style ground and good atmosphere.
