Here We Go...

Another season is about to start and despite all of the constant negativity online I'm excited!

I can't quite work out what people want... We moan when the kids don't get a chance because we have a bloated squad of "mercenaries", we moan when we have a clear out and fill the squad with youngsters, we moan when the manager is sacked, we moan when the manager isn't sacked, we complain when we don't sign someone, we complain when we do... The owner isn't going anywhere anytime soon so let's hope he gives Manga and VI a chance to create something half decent.

The "Pozzo in/Pozzo out" nonsense is all very tiresome - it's boring enough that everything else in life is so binary these days - and I can't wait for the football to start. Quite frankly I don't care where we finish this season - I just want to see a team pulling in the same direction on and off the pitch. We are where we are so we might as well try and enjoy it for what it is.

    Yoooooooou 'ooooorns!

I want stability with the same manager to finish the season that starts, if he is good enough to be appointed then he must be given a chance!

Moaning is only natural for any football surporter. Every fan of any club wants them to be successful, and are heavily critical of things under a microscope of social media. For us, yes I do agree anything positive will be a massive improvement on last season's grind. If we finish midtable but try a lot harder in games and give them a good go, that will be good enough for most fans. As long as we don't go stupid with the funds we do have, staying within operating costs is just as important as playing well. Gino may not be going anywhere soon, but I do get the feeling he will be seeking to end his tenure on a high note. VI needs time and the squad will not be brilliant after one game and pre season. We will have bad days, but hopefully more better than we had last season.

A nice positive start is needed to get the confidence back.

Sometimes we do better when there is no expectations.

My fear is the board will expect a really strong start and carry on with their hire and fire policy which I think makes the players complacent

I can't see it, I'm not saying Pozzo is going to change his ways but there has to have been a reset in expectations. We had a strong start last season but the performances weren't showing much of a team coming together - whether that was down to the coach, players or recruitment can be argued - but this is an almost entirely new squad and coaching philosophy so there has to be the same kind of patience Zola was allowed all those years ago.

Trouble is at the fans forum Duxbury and Gino basically said we do it our way and don’t care what anyone else thinks as we aren’t there every day like they are - watching like hawks at the training ground every move made.

Wil the players keep happy and have the backing of Ismael.

Obviously it depends on how well or poorly we start but what is the expectation from them ?

I just hope that the majority of Hornets accept that we now have a squad of lower mid table quality players and do not expect us to realistically challenge for promotion.

More importantly, I hope that Pozzo will accept this and give the manager the whole season and NOT press the fire button.

Couldn’t agree more, you can’t make a Jag out of Ford parts the same way you can’t make a roller out of Jag parts, us the fans seem to understand this but do the owners? ( no smart Alex replies about the Jaguar x class please)

Glad you're excited. Genuinely couldn't give two sh*ts.

Same ownership, same sh*t transfer window (remember when we actually use to be fairly decent in the market?) topped off by giving Dan Flapmann a 5 year contract and making him captain.

    Calamity.

QPR are on their arse but it wouldn't shock me at all if they left with something today......

    I'll be watching Goodwood instead.

...and if we are 3rd bottom after 10 games ? Genuine Q.

Yep, fair enough people are excited for the new season but until Pozzo is gone the club will continue to decline. I just can't get excited about this club at the moment.

Waiting for a rich new owner to fund a new promotion push rather than accept our 2nd golden era is over and we are just a small champ club again ?

I think Pozzo in/Pozzo out is unavoidably binary.

Is it possible to be ambiguous on the Pozzi in/out issue? If Tolstoy were a Horn, he might argue that the fate of WFC is not determined by the actions of one man but that there are wider forces of inevitability at play.

I think "Pozzo in / Pozzo replaced by I don't care who, anyone frankly" is binary.
Otherwise for most, inc me it depends on who the buyer is and what their plans are.
In the meantime it makes no sense to hate the club and team until they sell, it might be 5-10 years. Life's too short. It's still the team we all support, whoever owns the club, "love 'em, hate 'em, or don't really care about 'em".

I think we have the players to not see us bottom after 10 games, it’s hypothetical, and not an easy question to answer, but changing manager if things don’t go your way hasn’t got us where the owners hoped in the past!

I can't see Pozzo changing his philosophy, even though our squad is wafer thin and consists of last season's reserves. Didn't he say at the forum that we have the squad and backroom staff to be successful, we just need to find the right head coach? He would've known the intention for this transfer window, so he must've been factoring that into his statement. I think he genuinely believes this is a competetive team and will continue sacking if we're not in the play-off places throughout the season.

This season is a reset for the playing staff, but everything else continues as before.

It has nothing to do with the club being in the Premier League or not. The decline I'm referring to is the way that Pozzo drags this club through the mud, his reckless spending and the people he does business with. I'd be perfectly happy supporting a midtable Championship club with another owner.

Yes that is the impression I got from the forum.

Had the sort of “We are there every day so have more idea than you about what is going on so will keep doing it our way” type attitude.

Promotion is the ultimate gold medal as always but realistically i would like to see:

    - an improvement on our league position last year with top 10 being a minimum requirement
    - be in with a shot at the playoffs
    - a youngster to break through and cement place in starting 11
    - VI to last the whole season with a view to building on for the following season

Nothing too drastic in there and i think its funny that the most outrageous point is finishing the season with the same manager…
