Aidy thought it very generous of him to pass for Smith to score rather than have a go himself.

he passed cos he mucked up his chance of scoring. moses and prisken both score on there first starts, that puts hendo to shame.

He passed because a team mate was better placed than himself to score. Of course he could have been selfish and tried a shot (which probably would have resulted in a Watford corner at best) and I'm sure you'd have been chuffed

No reward for his hard work so far this season. His pass to Smith was the best option as the goal that followed proved.

just cos you can cut t in the championship doesnt mean a goal EVERY game against anyone below the prem

he had a chance to score but he controled it badly and the chance was gone. lets face it, he is not good enough for the premiership.

I would disagree with you saying he is simply not good enough for the prem (although obviously I can see where you, and alot of other people are coming from), I think a bang on form Henderson with high confidence would be doing fairly well for goals this season, and even now without that form and confidence he still works his arse off all game, every game...

Who said he is? Very few people. Can't blame him for being our only fit striker though. At this level he is a sub at best. But he's all we've had over the past few weeks so we have to support him. And you can never doubt his effort, even when his confidence must be shattered. It's a step too far for him - just like most of our players.

applause a player for effort and ignore the end result - recipe for failure.

I think last season somewhat proved the point Henderson can score goals in the Championship and 'cut it' at that level!

Yes he did not score today and its a disappointment for a striker not to all season but its not his fault we did not have any other decent strikers to maybe replace him with or rest after King got injured to help him (Young yes but he is really a winger)

If we had pushed the boat out a bit in the summer (just the odd half a million) we may have got a striker who can score goals.

Lets not go overboard over Moses...he played well and showed a lot of interest but this was a League 2 side and a lot of Watford players in the past have performed in their opening games but done nothing since.

Ofcourse we must give him and young Will H a chance to settle in and get used to the Premiership and our style of play.

a striker should'nt need another striker to score goals. either he can or he can't and i know where hendo lies on that scale.

Oh yawn! Change the record. If you're saying Henderson can't score goals you're a mug - I suggest you look at last season's highlights dvd.

It seems that in your opinion Hendo can do no wrong, and that Jordan can do no right!!!!

Very polarised views

Doris is suffering a huge lack of confidence ATM. He's been our only fit striker with more or less a different partner each week.

Let's face it, Ash is worth £7Mil and has only scored 3 more goals than Doris. Cut him some slack.

Might come across like that on here but it's not like that in reality I assure you. Neither Henderson or Stewart is up to playing regularly at Premiership level. What erks me though is that one was perfectly competent at Championship level, the other plainly was not yet is still playing left back. Hence I have more time for one than the other.

Stewart could do right. For example, he could improve his passing, he could actually set up a Premiership goal, he could not make silly mistakes in crucial positions - ie. he could add something to our overall performance. He does try but is so far short of acceptable it's almost funny. Henderson, on the other hand, is just lacking confidence. I truly believe if he whacked in one goal he'd be able to play a decent supporting role in our Premiership team, maybe as a sub.

Consider this: if we get relegated, we have a striker with ability but lacking confidence and a left back lacking both. That is my opinion.

We'll have to agree to disagree about Jordan, however I actually agree that Hendo is just lacking in confidence :)

I just could not resist the comment, as you seemed to be so set on defending one and slating the other ;)

Hendo is lacking confidence, it is difficult to see where the confidence is going to come from until he gets that all important first goal.

IMHO he has had his chance and blown it.. we have more strikers now and hopefully if simple simpson stops being so tight we will get a proven premiership striker in the not too distant future.. i say drop him to the reserves and let him find his goals/confidence there so at least if we do go to the chumpionship next season he will at least have a chance at regaining his first team slot.
