In other transfer news Darius Henderson has once again laughed off speculation linking him to Leeds. Sources close to the player said he would rather retire than move to that club what a star
He's just gone up in my estimation. Fingers crossed for an announcement on his retiring then........ Just kidding before some of you respond. I don't rate Hendo, but I don't hate him either.
What a star that Hendo- that Leeds comment is priceless. The guy has a proven championship scoring record as a partner to Marlon. Defenders find him really hard to handle, and he leaves gaps for others to capitalise on. Keep him - he is worth his weight in points. c/p "In other transfer news Darius Henderson has once again laughed off speculation linking him to Leeds. The quote's from Vitalfootball and is unfortunately the product of someone's OTT imagination. It's a fansite, nothing more.
Course it is :]] Just saying no one should base anything on it. Same with the Eastwood story quoting "Fred's advisors" at the moment.
As if he actually said "I would rather retire". I can't believe that some people actually take this crap at face value- you all must have seriously flunked your History GCSEs.
'My mate's friend works closely with Hendo on occasions, and he said to my mate that Hendo won't go anywhere.' Honest... :dismay: Vitalfootball is utter cack.
I thought he retired at the start of last season :]] Must keep Hendo, 100% EVERY game and he will score in the CCC. Like I've said B4 he looks so solid when he's defending I would consider using him as a backup centre half.
Hendo's got no love lost for Leeds. People forgetting what he screamed after we won the play-off final? '8 years, i've been waiting for that' He was released by Leeds when he was 15 and told he wasn't good enough. Leeds in fairness were probably right :]]
I can't quite understand why so many people have turned against him, i don't remember anybody having a go at him when he was scoring the goals alongside King that got us into the Prem. At the end of the day, he wasn't good enough for the Premiership, especially when foreced to play on his own for the majority of the season after we lost Marlon and didn't replace him, is it any wonder he didn't do very well when he only had a few misplaced long balls to compete for each game? Sure he's not good enough for the Prem, but he's perfectly good enough for the Championship, now isn't the time to replace him, he'll be an excellent back up should we bring in a decent striker like Earnshaw or along those lines and even if we don't, we know he can score goals at that level.
I don't care what any of you lot think, I would rather have Hendo than Kabba, Hoskins or Prsikin. Having been a defender, I know who I would least like to have played against. Hope you won't be hypocrits and start cheering him when he knocks them in next season.
That was a good video (though Stoke's defending in the goal 1:20 in was abysmal :]] ). We should definitely keep him as third choice and to play against the more aggressive teams and come on for the last 15 minutes of games when we are one goal up to keep the ball. But if Marlon gets injured or doesn't hit top form, then I don't think we would be good enough to challenge for the top six just with Hendo combined one other of our current strikers leading the line.
Yeah it's amazing how people here have turned against Hendo. He was great in our promotion campaign, and last season he was probably having the most difficult job in the whole Premiership, trying to spear-head a Watford team that was under pressure for about 75 mins every game. Take the Man Utd game for instance, with Hendo's abilities - what the hell could he do? Playing lone striker against four Man Utd defenders and with the rest of the team not supporting in attack, you have to be Michael Owen to score. Mark Viduka would have been just as clownish as Hendo in that game. Point is, when we play to Hendo's strength and pair him up with another _good_ striker, he is great. He's got qualities that none of our other strikers are even near, because he can hold off defenders, win challenges, win in the air and he is super strong (was it Lee who said that Hendo was our strongest man? Which means he's stronger than Dan Shittu!). And finally, people who say he doesn't contribute 110% all the time are drunk :dismay:
Hendo just simply is not good enough. I will not be happy with him as a main striker next year.He does however bring something that is different and hard to find which is his aerial ability and holding up of the ball.
Hendo is a good player. He will score us many goals. He is more than good enough. Why are we discussing this? Surely the debate should be about the 5 untested strikers on our books, not one of the few who has an incredible work ethic and produces results?
16 goals in about 38 games says it all Played most of last season with no reconised stricker along side him Under rated by the boo boys, who have obviousley ran out of other targets and those who don't have a clue have jumped on the boo boys band wagon.
Spot on, the big question is what the hell we're going to do with our panic buys Kabba (not young, not good) and Hoskins (young but _horribly_ bad). As for Priskin, I think he'll be good for us next season - he's shown glimpses of potential now and then. No-one will buy Kabba from us, so we can either keep him or break his contract and pay off his remaining 2-and-a-half years of wages... so obviously he'll have to stay and Aidy's challenge now is to get _something_ out of him. Hoskins ... even though he was pretty expensive (by our standards) I have to say send him out on loan. Especially if we're serious about buying yet another striker during the summer - Hoskins would just rot in the reserves. At least there's a chance that Hoskins will get on a lucky goal-streak in some lower league (like last autumn) and we can sell him.
