I have noticed a few Hemel Hempstead Town fans on these forums previously.

So, could someone please just clear up their league position?

How far are they from the conference?

What is the league situation after the conference anyway?

If anyone could fill in the gaps below from what I think is the pyramid:

    Premiership
    Championship
    League 1
    League 2
    Conference
    Conference North/South.

What with all the sponsorship changes etc. - I don't currently have much idea to the situation below here.

Good Lord, that's one heck of a complicated system!!

There are 3 different leagues at Hemel's level.

So, the gist of it is - that Hemel will go into the (Nationwide) Football Conference Southern Division, if they get promoted this year - which is one level off the Conference itself?

That last bit you said is correct cmho, i go fairly often and we're in with a chance of promotion.
We're currently 4th in the league with one game to go 3 pts ahead of 6th which is the 1st spot outside the play-offs and we have a far superior goal difference. We are at home to 6th place Chippenham on the last day of the league season next Saturday.

Saying that it seems our play-off spot is all wrapped up but with all the bad weather several teams have had huge fixture congestion and Maidenhead in 7th place have 2 games left, with their game in hand being played this Thursday at home to Banbury who are mid-table. A win would put them in 5th with just the one game remaining and would be 1 points behind Hemel as would Halesowen who would then be 6th and also a point behind Hemel with a decent goal difference. If Maidenhead lose their game in hand then Hemel will have their spot pretty much wrapped up due to their far superior goal difference over Chippenham.

Funnily enough Maidenhead then play Banbury AGAIN on the last day whilst as previously mentioned Hemel host Chippenham. Halesowen go to lower table Hitchin.
It's all a tad complicated but a win would garauntee the play-off spot. It's possible for Hemel to miss out on the play-offs and that would be gutting seeing as we've been around there for the whole season.

Promotion or not it's been a very good season after coming up from southern league division 1 last season and we've found ourselves in 4 cup finals. One of those was played on Tuesday in the Herts Senior Cup and we lost 4-2 to a full strength Barnet side which is no disgrace. League cup final 2nd leg this tuesday with the St.Mary's cup and Herts Charity Cup finals to be played in May.

It's certainly an exciting end to the season and Hemel as been some good relief for me whilst having to suffer WFC's season.

    Come on you reds !!

im also a hemel town go'er i often go with chewitt to midweek games, and the football they play at times is often good but ive been to a couple of shockers in the winter. i recall when they lost 5-1 to kings lynn and we went inside the bar and watched stafford on the tv as it was also freeeeeezing!

I may start going myself actually.

Let's just hope The Tudprs can secure that play-off spot against Chippenham then. Best of luck for the remaining cup finals too.

Yes, read about the Barnet game in the local paper - thought it must have been a valiant effort, as they fielded a first team didn't they?

  12. Chewitt

    Chewitt Forum Extraordinaire

They did put out a first team yes.

You should start going if you're local as we play some decent football and have exciting times ahead :D

Well yes, I live at Chaulden Valley - so it's not much of a trek up to Vauxhall Road, other side of Hemel like...

What chance would they have in the Conference South though, were they promoted this year?

  14. Chewitt

    Chewitt Forum Extraordinaire

Reinforcements would be required to have any chance of staying in the conference south but if the top players perform you never know. Saying that promotion has to be achieved first which will be no easy task.

Yes Hemel won promotion last season.

Drew 2-2 (lost 3-2) on aggregate to Tiverton in the league cup final on Tuesday night. We wern't particularly great but the game could have been a different story if the ref and given the obvious penalty to us and shown their keeper the resulting red card.
Fairly gutting as we'd only just beaten them in the league 2 weeks back, ho hum concentrate on securing our play-off spot and perhaps getting promoted.

2 out of 4 cup finals lost now, herts senior cup and league cup. Still left in the mickey mouse cups though, St.Mary's and Herts Charity cup. Although the St.mary's final vs Berko will be their biggest game of the season ;)

A real shame. That's two big cup finals lost now for Hemel, though the Tring defeat was no disgrace.

Anyhow, most important is still the push to gain promotion - so Hemel must now focus upon that.

  20. Chewitt

    Chewitt Forum Extraordinaire

Yes it was a shame, although i presume you mean the Barnet defeat as not being the disgrace. Agree that promotion is the priority.

Anthony Thomas who has 35 goals this season and 40 odd last season is leaving at the end of the season to go to Barnet against whom he impressed in the herts senior cup final and then Paul Fairclough watched him get 2 goals on Tuesday. A shame but he deserves a shot at pro football.

Ha ha! Excellent! Yes, sorry I meant Barnet.

Indeed, I did hear of the news regarding Thomas.

Another big blow, as he appeared to be an integral part of the team previously.

A point vs Chippenham and Halesowen's defeat at Hitchin was enough to secure Hemel's play-off spot. Both the semi and final are 1 legged with the teams finishing 2nd and 3rd having home advantage.

    Team Bath vs Hemel Town
    Kings Lynn vs Maidenhead

Those are the fixtures and hopefully we'll progress and meet Maidenhead in the final which would presumably be at their place, which isn't far away and seeing as they finished above us i'd imagine it would be away.

Shall be heading down to Bath on Tuesday on the supporters coach (only a tenner) and hopefully will come back smiling.

We've got a very good chance, drew 0-0 at home and beat them 3-1 at their place in the league and on top of the good amount of Hemel fans going apparently Bath City fans will be coming to support Hemel :]]

Ha ha! Actually, I was just conversing with a Bath City supporter, regarding the tie - on another forum!

Problem is, the way results can fluctuate so wildly in the lower leagues.

Anyhow, is the tie next week?

Semi final (only 1 leg) is tommorow night at Bath whilst the final will be vs Kings Lynn or Maidenhead at the ground of the winner from that tie.

Still spaces available on the coach for a tenner if you want to go cmho :D

Lost 3-1 last night :( after a pretty poor performance  although i think the fixture congestion finally caught up with us (10 games in April) and it's a great shame to do so unexpectedly well and fall at the final hurdles.

Got home about 12ish last night from the game, team bath a.k.a team tax have no ground and no supporters. Share Bath City's ground and not one song all night and were comfortably outsung by 40 odd Hemel fans. Shameful really, come on Maidenhead in Saturday's play-off final.

All the main prizes we were in line for have no been lost (Herts Senior Cup, League Cup & promotion), however there's still local pride to play for next monday in the derby vs Berko in the St.Mary's cup final and then the Herts Charity Cup final vs Potters Bar Town next Wednesday.

Anthony Thomas our main striker who's rather talented is out of contract and off to Barnet in the summer unfortunately and rumours that our keeper is off to conference side.

    Yes, saw this.

Shame that the season has just turned into a barren anti-climax eventually.

Let's hope we can get in someone decent for next year - for another promotion push.

Finally some success :D Won the St.Mary's cup 3-2 vs Berko scum, went 3-0 up but they got two late goals to make it nervy but we held on.

As predicted pre-match the berko chavs that only turn up for hemel games and are NEVER at any other Berko games were there. They were all scum.

Off to Letchworth tommorow night for the Herts Charity Cup final vs Potters Bar.

Went to the Herts Charity cup final tonight vs Potters Bar (1 league below hemel) in what was our 68th competitive game this season. We lost 3-0 in what can only be described as a load of tosh and the away following was duely disgruntled to say the least although a good laugh was had in the ground and a good sing song.

That's it for this season although next friday is the awards evening which shall be a great opportunity to get absolutely shitfaced :]]
