Its being reported today that Fulham will sign Kamara from West Brom for £5.5mil with Heidar going the other way as part of the deal Would have been nice to get him back here!!How about once the deal goes through, we offer West Brom £4mil plus Darius for a Heidar and Robbo combo?
They seem to like signing our recent former legends...if H.H does go to them he'll defo score against us However i don't see us missing out on him as a great loss to be honest, as i said in another post i feel we may as well hold onto Darious if we want that type of player. Though Helguson is the better of the two, neither of them really adapted to the Premiership, so we may as well stick with Hendo.
If Heidar goes to West Brom, Sharp to Norwich, Eastwood (who I don't want) to Wolves and Earnshaw goes either nowhere or to the Prem. then who would that leave us with in England who we could sign as a new partner for Marlon?!
Its a decent point... Izale McLeods about to sign for Leicester for about £1mil in the next few days.... our striking options are becomming a little limited to say the least... What worries me is if any of our guys decide to move on to bigger and better things (Marlon, Boozer, Hendo even) We might be just about ok as we are but if any of the "core" goes, we could be in trouble.
I hope this does not come off. I was "reliably" informed that H was already on his way to us, though it seems that Fulham have decided it would be better for them to use him as a makeweight to sign Camara. I hope H makes his own decision, however, and chooses to come hime.
I think a move for Kevin Phillips would be worthwhile if this is the case, certainly bring some firepower to our strike force in the Championship and would forge a good partnership with Hendo if Marlon were to get injured again.
What's this obsession with finding a strike partner for Marlon, though? Remember last time we were in the Championship...? We still have that partnership intact, plus a promising Priskin in the wings. Don't forget our top scorer last season Bouazza. Smithy/McAnuff as wingers and Marlon/Bouazza up front is a nice option.
In fairness it's actually a good point. However, I can see Hoskins, Ashikodi and Robinson going out on loan at some stage, meaning we're 3 strikers down in the squad with just King, Priskin and Henderson. I think Henderson will be on his way personally...I can see him going to Cardiff or such like. Theoretically leaving just King and Priskin as out and out strikers. Granted Bouazza and Noddy can play there but we need them on the flanks. Even if Henderson does stay I still believe a proven goal scorer like Eastwood or Sharpe would be useful to partner King. We need a striker that's going to progress from Championship football to Premiershit football...Eastwood and Sharpe both would in my opinion...both got a lot in their locker as strikers.
Must admit I think we have the ideal goal scorer for the Championship in Priskin and reckon he'llwork really well with Marlon against the majority of defences. When you add in Boozer, Smith, Jobi and the young strikers waiting in the wings I don't think goal scoring will be our problem. I wouldn't rush to sign Eastwood, I'd far rather see us develop a watertight defence and still see us vulnerable to real pace down the flanks.
We only have two proven strikers. Priskin, Hoskins, Ashikodi, Robinson etc are all untested at this level. I think we need another, but if we don't get it then purely by the amount of strikers we have accumulated we should find at least one decent player
Again, I think we forget Bouazza too often. I'm the first to admit that I like him much more on the left wing than up front, but he is good either way. Now we also have many options for the left wing if we need to use Hammer up front: Smith and McAnuff can play on both wings, Macca is going to be here for another year and has played well in the Championship before and we also have Cavalli. Hoskins is another striker that isn't mentioned often. To be honest I've never seen any potential in him and think he's a flop :dismay: but he _is_ here and he _is_ young so he should be given some chances in the first team. Kabba... well enough has been said about him but I think he'll be staying (no club would buy him off us) so... that leaves King, Hendo, Priskin, Kabba and Bouazza - 5 strikers all ahead of Hoskins. If we sell a striker (preferrably Kabba) this summer then fine, we should bring in another, but not with our current squad. Agree with the last bit I think our current squad is quite solid. If we want to invest we should get a really good full back and possibly a creative midfielder who's good with the ball.
I think it is important that we do find a partner for Marlon. Remember last season when our one good striker got injured and left us short? Don't also forget that we are 15 (Ashley Young) goals shy of our promotion winning year, as well as Springs contribution. Can you really see Priskin/Hoskins et al filling this gap?
Hoskins will come good. Yes hes had a poor start but he was a 20 year old lad moving half way down the country and up 2 divisions. He looked a bit off the pace bit you could see had good touch and movement - and the way we play didnt help him at all. Potentially I think hes the best striker at the club. Hes got something a bit different. And i reckon if we can get a few more footballers in he could score a hatful.
We will miss Spring. We missed him this season. I wish we hadn't sold him, as we have nobody else to score from the midfield. I hope Williamson, williams or any of the new mifield can take on long range chances because we need them a lot. Best midfielder we had for ages.
ive got a feeling about williamson. just something about him says he'll come good aswell as him showing a few very very nice touches against newcastle as discarding tht last minute chance in that game i though he was one of our best players which has got to count for something
