Have you named your child after a Watford player?

My eldest son was named after a WFC player. See if you can guess the player, I’ll give you a clue, my son was born in 1996. I met the player in question in 1998 after we went up as champions. I told him I had named my lad after him, he was genuinely over the moon

Anyone else named a child or pet after a Watford player?

Sadly I have. He was a cult hero of ours in the early 80's and I adapted his name somewhat, but it was based on him.

My 4 sons Lars, Almen, Matej and Alhassan were all named after Watford players but I have a feeling that was Toumani.

 

I would never name my kids after Watford players. My son, Helguson Luther, is original and any similarities to those dead or alive is purely coincidental.

 

Yup. My boy is called Tamas ******* Priskin.

 

This was nearly the cause of divorce in our house three times. I wanted to name our three after Watford players - the two boys Ross and Luther and our daughter Callie - but my wife refused point blank. In the end, I gave in and they each received, in her words, 'normal' names.

It took her a few years to realise that I had had a small win though. She agreed to my suggestion that they each have her maiden name for a middle name - Taylor.

 

Ford and Arthur are named after Prefect and Dent,as you would imagine.
However they do like playing with the Watford Subbuteo figures.

 

I presume the "*******" meant "offside".

I get it with pets, but seems a bit weird for your children unless you actually like the name.

My wife thinks we have named our son after a Watford player with probably the longest thread on this forum. If we had another son I would call him FFS Lloyd after Doyley as that's what i always called him

 

I haven't got kids yet but I reckon I'll call mine Johan after this guy:

My cat is called Sanchez .. I wanted to call him Deeney but was told no way, the reason..her friends nickname is called Beaney and didn't want me calling out Deeny from the back door into the darkness as it sounded too similar to her friends! I thought it was very strange at the time too. But in hindsight Sanchez was definitely a more suitable name as he's turned out a handsome, laid back fella and smells nice most of the time

 

My middles names are David James. He played for the club at the time. I'm not convinced it's a coincidence (who needs two middle names?!).

Also after his treble save against Bolton I said I'd name my firstborn after Heurelho Gomes, in hindsight I'm not sure it was a great commitment to make.

My lad is called Tom, named after the great Mr Mooney

 

Our rottweiler was called Petchey.

 

I guessed correctly then !

 

My ginger cat is called Luther in hindsight maybe Nicky would have been more appropriate

 

My son is called George in the hope that one day he plays for Watford and has half his ear bitten off by a Plymouth fan.
