Looks a little like the stand behind the goal at Maine Road? But then the stand on the far side doesnt look right. Burnden Park?

Ddidnt think so cause the roof looked too high.

I was thinking that was a conventional stand roof mid-construction.. but if it isnt then could it be that quirky small stand that once stood at the back of the Kop at the Racecourse ground?

I can see where you are coming from, but not Wrexham.

    This ground is no more!

I cannot get any of your pictures without cheating, you've beaten me every time! And I thought my knowledge of old football grounds was pretty good.......

Here's two of the same stadium, a few years apart. Prob easy for you lot, but I thought they were great pictures and worth posting anyway:

Correct! That remained unsolved for long................!

First one was dated 1945, although without brushing up on my WW2 history, I would've thought that the air raids were long before that. I suppose it could've taken them until after the war to begin repairs.

Second picture was dated 1948. As is usually the case, I stumbled upon these pics when looking for something else.

    Not Leeds Road.

It had something similar to Vicarage Road (for a while).

United had to move out of Old Trafford in march 1941.. after the Manchester Blitz.
They didnt actually return until August 1949. This was partly due to the time taken to get compensation money from the War Damage Commission and partly due to a lack of building materials post war.. and the understandable focus on house building.
If you look closely at the top pic you can see the vegetation build up indicating how long the stand had been out of use.

I was trying to think of grounds where the stand backs onto the road, which is why I initially thought of West Brom. Love these old pics.

I'd actually lined up a different shot of the same stand to post here.

OK this one is pretty impossible i'd say.... unless someone has seen the pic before.
