Well - you can't moan about him. He may not have been at Watford for long - but he's been a loyal, commited youngster.

Now Aidy needs to spend some of this moiney very wisely in the transfer market - to try and keep this club in the PL.

Bring in players who can also adapt to Championshoip life if necessary.

I suggest Earnshaw, Hartson, Forster and you may scoff - but Teddy Sheringham.

Now go and throw £2,500,000 at Palarse and get McAnuff

Gotta say I think Sheringham would be a class signing til the end of the season. Was watching the Wet Spam players in shooting practise before the game at the Vic in August and he was a class above.

Sky sports report its a done deal to be completed next week.

    Good luck Ash if true.

Hopefully the board will give Aidy money to spend in the summer as I do think its much too late now to save our season.

I think it would be a good move for Ash BUT do not be surprised if he says no.

If we win tomorrow Ash will not want to join a team worse than us that is without him and Shittu in it.

Do you think Aidy and Simpson have told our guys to throw the match or don't we need that help?

I don't understand why everyone is so negative about our prospects this season.

We had a lousy first half of the season (to no-one's surprise when Marlon got crocked), but it was better than it could have been... mostly draws or defeats by a single goal.

Thus, it was obvious that we needed more firepower and that the firepower we had (Darius and Priskin) needed to start performing.

Well, that's what we got against Wigan and Stockport (no-one really expected us to beat Liverpool so while it was a disappointing performance, it was certainly not three points lost). Priskin scored in one game and then the team scored 4 including 1 by Tommy Smith and one by a new guy.

We need 9 or 10 wins to be confident of staying up this season and we have 17 games left to play. Assuming that we lose to Man U, Chelsea, Bolton and Pompey (the group of top teams in the current table), that still leaves us with 13 games. If we need 42 points (total) to stay up, that means we need 30 points. 10 wins, no draws or 9 wins and 3 draws (or possibly 8 wins and 5 draws for 29 points).

Not easy, but not impossible either. We don't have anything to lose... everyone has written us off already. And once we get a couple of wins under our belts, we'll be playing with our normal commitment AND a huge amount of confidence. Heck, look at Sheffield United to see how a change in confidence can improve things. Besides, I suspect that we could stay up with 38 points or less this season... there are 4 other teams with 24 or less points after 23 games.

I am not the mindless optimist type. I'm more the ... we'll be doing fine, but will need to draw our last game of the season and we'll be 2 nil up at half time and then Foster will accidentally throw the ball into the net, a misjudged opposition clearance will hit the referee and lob our goalie and the last kick of the game will be a (scored) penalty from a dive that was so blatant that the player concerned is banned for life... type. Not paranoid, just experienced.

Still, we all knew that this was pretty much where we would be for the second half of the season after King got injured. We have two games in hand which could put us above Charlton and a single point behind Stam. We win two games more than Sheffield and we're out of the relegation zone. How hard can that be ?

Performances like last week would not help confidence of the team or fans for sure.

    I'm with you

I've bin saying the same as you for weeks, it aint over yet!!!!

All we have to do is turn about 9 of the draws and one goal defeats we suffered in the first half of the season, into one goal victories in the second half, and "Hey Presto" we stay up!!!!

    "WE CAN DO IT"

If only it was as simple as that mate! I actually think the team that finishes 17th is going to need more than 40 points to stay up!

I have a couple of questions about any potential sale and money for Aidy to spend this summer:

What is the situation with our losses made or did that not cover the promotion money meaning some black numbers will appear for once?

Heard our turnover is about 8 million...is that good/bad/ok!?

  24. Siggy

This year, it's at least 16 million. And our costs probably haven't risen that much... we should make a profit this year.

The losses incurred up to 30th June 2006 did not include any Premiership money. As for the turnover - don't quite see how you mean is it good or bad?? I mean, all football clubs are individual, they all have their pros and cons financially. I'd say we were middle Championship level when it came to turnover. Though it'll obviously be higher for the next three years thanks to Premiership income.

lets all believe that we can stay up, what we got to loose now, every win from now until may is a bonus lets enjoy, wfc should start by changing the entrance music to the great escape as far as i know nobody else uses it ,even if we dont survive at least we tried.

ps; good luck ash for the future.

Well I think the best bet is to still give 150% every week but the key is not to put too much pressure on the team to stay up! Players tend to perform better when they know the pressure is off them! The players need to know it's not a matter of life or death if we go down or stay up! Just makes them more nervous and that's more likely to mean individual mistakes!

very true bubble lets keep trying and keep our chins up.

on a side note... turnover is kind of meaningless.

For example, a grocery store company could have a Billion quid turnover but only make 1 million in profits. A jewelry store could have a 100 million quid turnover and make 10 million in profits.

Profit or loss is the really important thing. We lost 4 million last year (I think) and should make a healthy profit this year. It probably won't pay off all our debts, but it will give us breathing space.

True...there is no excuse for lack of effort in any game really.

Players will be fighting to stay at the club and remain within the 1st team squad should new players arrive in the summer.

We might be bottom and going down but no fan will accept lack of passion/desire as shown last weekend.

Afterall a few positive wins/performances will sort of boost confidence rather than getting beat every game.

I have to hand it to you lads that is looking on the bright side of things.

Peace in the Midlle East & Jade Goody to have a labotomy ;D

    Cracking trebble ;D

Love to be proved wrong but I can't see it.

You really think a lobotomy will help ? I've got an angle grinder.

As for the middle east peace thing... two choices; Israelis and Palestinians agree to share Jerusalem as their joint Capital and start working together since no-one much likes the Palestinians any more than they like the Jews (ps I am Jewish and I know that many people have Jewish friends etc... but there is an undercurrent of anti-semitism that is still pretty common if you scratch too deep... skinflint jokes etc)

The alternative is to let Iran develop nukes. They'll use them on Israel, Israel will use them back, India and Pakistan will take the opportunity to continue their own 'difference of opinion', China will invade Taiwan, Russia will re-occupy much the Ukraine and Georgia as well as the 'stans' and the George Bush's last words will be "I told you that Saddam Hussein was dangerous".

My point was that he's only been playing for the last year or so!

Unless I'm totally wrong and he has actually been in the first team since the age of 10...

In terms of the team that played today, he would, I think, have been probably the 2nd, after Mahon (notwithstanding Noddy's earlier spell) to have made his 1st team dbut. That makes him a veteran.

In terms of all the positive thinking. Good for you all if you beleive that, but I'm afraid I stopped beleiving in Santa and fairies a long time ago. The rest of this season is not going to be pretty.
