“Like all the clubs financial transactions, Gino’s tax affairs were independently ratified in Spain, and therefore he has no case to answer”

Look, the case was discontinued in 2022 and Gino has done no wrong, he said so. Anyone that's a journalist at Spain's leading national newspaper can fake court documents dated 4th January 2024 for no reason whatsoever. It's a witch hunt!

One thing I’m pretty sure of us that if Gino does go to jail it won’t be good for our football club !

Why not? If he is guilty surely you want justice system to remove such a person from our family club, even if it’s a long painful process.

After all, our fans have proved they won’t hold him accountable for anything, and even now some on twitter are claiming these are old groundless allegations or rubbishing the source as they spasm to defend him.

Why not ? Because I’ve seen the fallout from owners of other clubs going to jail . That’s why not .

So, if he’s carried out tax evasion at another club, you’d be happy for that to be swept under the carpet and leave our own club at risk of god knows what sanctions if he’s allowed to do the same, or carry on doing the same at Watford?

IF he’s guilty of this you’d rather he didn’t face justice so he can carry on his ways at Watford?

I presume the EFL/FA might take a look at his role here if he does have a conviction.

Then again their “fit and proper” test suggests maybe they don’t have such checks in place ?!

I think it's quite clear the time has come for our timid fanbase to rise up, make our voices heard and protest this absolutely disgusting affair being linked to our lovely family club.

Everyone please get your best best sheets out, scrawl some slogans on them and meet here to tell the powers that be it's time to go:

What do we want? Gino free! When do we want it? Now!

If he's found guilty then he should rightly be punished in whatever means that is. Depending on how serious the charges are if the allegations are true, he would almost certainly be removed from his position as owner. However, I would expect the club to be told about this decision well in advance and some sort of safegaurd put in place to act as a temp owner figure until a new one is found or any protential investment is finalised.

I do see the otherside of it though, without an owner and no stable financial structure a club can fall apart, but considering how poorly this club has been run in the past five years his removal would probably be blessing rather than a curse.

Not to discount the story, but doesn't this happen quite a lot in Spain? Didn't Messi/Pique/Shakira have similar cases against them and they just settle a lump sum?

Not sure if it's the same kind of charge as those guys though.

He's already Chairman and Chief Exec isn't he? Pozzo himself isn't even a director of the football club. I'd have to look more to find out what that means for the Owners and Directors Test run by the EFL (the fit and proper persons one) given he's already the owner and not a director.

Obviously if he ends up in the slammer there would like be major issues with funding but from a day to day management of operations perspective I don't suppose they'd be a lot of change.

Yes, I'm pretty sure the spanish tax authorities have form for kicking up a public stink and demanding jail for big names, only to settle for a fine and a slap on the wrist in the end. Ronaldo was a target once as well: https://apnews.com/general-news-e6c4a935cea1434d8d6027c07e09a416

As you say, completely different. Clearly with Fleetwood's owner this was a much fishier 'tail'. Once the police had trawled through the records, they were able to catch their big fish, hook, line and sinker.

Did I say any of that ? Doesn’t sound like there is any sweeping under the carpet option here. But yes if he is convicted and sent down I’d rather it was after he has sold his ownership in the club

Having just read this, all you said was "if Gino does go to jail it won’t be good for our football club". This isnt really a controversial statement as it would create instability for us and reputational damage. I don't think you ever said that you want anything to be swept under the carpet or for justice not to be served.

The escalating response to your post seems quite extraordinary to me.

You can understand that for those desperate to see the back of Gino irrespective of what comes next, the prospect of the owner jailed is a chink of light whatever the turmoil / instability it might bring. The worse the outcome, the greater the ability to say "Told ya so".

I think the fact are clear aren't they ? At least in so much as the accusations have been made. Some see the fact that the owner of our football club has been charged as a good thing, some see it as a bad worrying thing ?

I get that and think in many ways its fair enough for people to say i told you so as this story is a vindication of what some people have been saying.

What I don't understand is why a little pack of them have jumped on something fairly innocuous that LH said leading to him being compared to the despicable Donald Trump. Perhaps something preceded the exchange that explains it but if not it seems rather unsavoury behavior imo.
