    Rajovic €1m
    Chakvetadze €500k.
No idea where the value of €2.5m came from
Both fees are subject to payment in installments.

Remember, Watford have massive debts to clear.

Where does your 500k come from ?

You obviously know better than most .

In full flight he does look good. Yet he is like a fly trying to get out of a window. Zooming around, but he has no idea where he is going.
At €500k and given his age, it might work out, but l fancy he will be in some Eastern European league before too long.

€2.5m is just guesswork. Given his limited playing time in Belgium, the level of Belgian football and his injury record, such a fee seems unrealistic. What they say and what they receive are two different things..
Then again, Watford are as thick as pig sh*t in the transfer market .
Take that Portuguese defender we had. It was alleged that we paid £2m when he was offered to Rio Ave for £400k the same season.

Why would many news outlets etc say we paid 2 million more than the “truth”

Why is your friends fee more accurate than what the press say the fee is over here?

It's obvious, surely the most likely person to have the inside track on the transfer of a Georgian international from a Belgian club to an English one is going to be a member of the Swiss press. Bet he's chuffed he got this big scoop!

I’ve been trying to think of why we signed Chak in this window. If he gets injured now, it’s our problem, so for me it made little sense.

Of course most of what we do in the market is moronic, so it could be just down to idiots doing idiot things, but in case there was some lucidity in the thinking this is what it could have been. Maybe Gino said to Scott, I’m not giving you a penny, but if you can raise funds from player sales I’ll allow you to reinvest that.

Apparently we had feelers on a couple of players, but when it came to the final day it became clear those deals were not going to happen. So Scott decided to make Chakvetadze a permanent deal. This is why it was done on the final day. Duxbury wanted to ensure the money raise was spent on the team. Had we missed spending anything, I’m sure the monies raised would have been absorbed elsewhere.

For me this all fits and hence why it was done on the last day of the window. Duxbury was concerned if we didn’t spend the money, Pozzo would redirect it elsewhere.

Yeah it’s probably that rather than the relationship between KAA Gent and a football agent who goes to all of our games with the owner.

Apparently Gino drove Mogi to the match yesterday. I wonder if they are actually a couple? Nothing wrong with that of course, but it would explain a lot.

Given that the transfer fees are very low for both players, the club asking to pay in installments just shows the very limited funds Watford have.

Yes, That is the player. €400k to Rio Ave and they didn't want to pay that price.
It is a rumour that the fee for Chakvetadze is €2.5m, even in Belgium.
They can't believe it is true.

Bayat was involved in the deal so Pozzo made it permanent when Bayat told him to. I don't think there's much more to it than that.

I think a decent manager could turn him into a decent player.

    Unfortunately, I don't think we've got a decent manager.

Doesn't really matter whether the fee is low, that's how every transfer (exceptions include free transfers for obvious reasons + release clauses) is still accounted for.

Still doesn't explain how your mate is the only journalist to know the exact figure whilst every journalist in Georgia, Belgium and England is none the wiser. Probably cos it's not true, just like the rest of your claims with no substance.

While instalments are common, isn’t each transfer decided on it’s own merits? For example when we bought Wilmot back in the day, couldn’t we have offered to pay the million up front as a sweetener to get it done?

I don’t really get the point LaCkusazki is making anyway, I think the main issue people have with this is we are potless, chronically lacking in players in other positions, already had this guy on loan, he isn’t that good, and yet despite all that we spaffed £2m on him.

If we actually spent 500k on him then that’s obviously much better all round?

Everybody knows we’re skint, so if it’s a choice between paying £2m and 500k on a relatively poor player then I think most would prefer we actually spent £500k.

It would indeed be better if it were 500k than 2m, but that isn't the case so is pretty much null.

I'm still not against it, it's £2m that we'd probably spend on him in the summer anyway but negates the risk of someone coming in and offering him more money between now and then (not massively likely but still a potential risk). We do lack players in other positions, but it must've been apparent on deadline day that they weren't gonna happen - so why not it make it a permanent? It's not as if signing him meant we had no money to spend on anyone else and ties down a versatile player that sure, has flaws to his game and lacks end-product but is decent enough for where we are at the moment, especially if we recruit well in the summer meaning his role is more of a squad player rather than a starter.

I don’t think in our current financial state we can afford to spend £2m on bog average squad players. I mean surely that chap from Wimbledon that was snapped up by Ipswich at half the price is a better profile. Giorgi is so average even for our squad. I think it’s a very poor use of funds.

He’s been here for a few months and is coming off the back of a significant injury. He’s clearly been highly thought of before - and I would say he deserves more time to make a mark. I don’t believe he will turn out to be average. I think the stronger and more confident he gets, the better he will look.

Let us not forget, many fans were writing off Kone not so long ago.

Also a bit baffled how £2m on a player like Chakvetadze is seen as a waste of funds in our current financial situation, but some would be happy to see us spend half that on a striker who has had a decent 6 months but produced the square root of nothing before that . Let Luke Jephcott and TVOR’s obsession with us signing him be a lesson!

I think Chak was a decent signing. He has something about him. He’s becoming more influential and I would like to hope there’s going to be more end product from him. He’s quite strong on the ball and I like the way he progresses up the field.

Should we have spent our funds on him in this window? I would say no, but I think it’s a case of our targets wouldn’t come and Duxbury wanted to secure him while the funds were still there and not absorbed into the Gino debt fund once the window closed.

How much longer do we have to wait for our £2m signing to seem like a player? It’s been 6 months and 30 games. He looked like he was running through treacle on day 1 and still does now.

As for Kone, I’m still writing him off. I’ve seen less static scarecrows compared to him on Saturday. I’ll be watching him from now to see if he’s always like that as haven’t before.

Fine if that is your view but he’s been underwhelming so far. Use the rest of his loan to let him prove himself is surely the logical play.

I’m also baffled as to why you think it’s a good signing now but on Saturday said it was simply “lining Bayat’s pockets”!

As for Wimbledon chap, LouOrns thinks he will be the bum duffer.

I didn’t say it was a good signing ‘now’? If there was a possibility for us to wait and be absolutely sure that we would not lose out on him down the line, I’d have done that. I don’t know if there was or not. I think he’s a good player, I think he will get better and I think he will prove to be an astute signing. I may be wrong!

I’m just saying I think it’s a stretch to write him off as a waste of funds - especially when compared to the other player mentioned.

I do believe the deal lines Bayat’s pockets. But I don’t dismiss a players ability on that point alone.

Kone is a young lad who hadn't played in Europe before, and who has been one of our better players this season even if he's beginning to look a bit jaded now. Chak has been meh, is older and has had 2 ACLs, I don't think we'll see him improve too much, not enough to justify the fee anyway (Kone will almost certainly never justify the £8m we spent on him, but that's by the by!)
