Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster admits it was disappointing to be drawn against Manchester United or Middlesbrough in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

United will play The Hornets in the last four if they beat Middlesbrough in their quarter-final replay.

Foster, who is on loan at Watford from Old Trafford, would therefore have to sit out the game.

He explained: "I hoped we wouldn't draw United because I know if we do meet them I won't be playing.

"I just want to play as many games as I can."

Foster, tipped to become the best goalkeeper in the world by Adrian Boothroyd following his display against Plymouth, is also looking to establish himself at international level.

He played in England's friendly against Spain last month and could feature in the upcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and Andorra.

"I haven't been picked in the squad yet so I'm not counting my chickens, but if the call comes then I will be ready," said Foster.

"I know Paul (Robinson) is England's No.1. I just have to keep concentrating on the doing what I'm doing but if get my chance, I'll definitely take it with both hands.

"Playing for England against Spain was a great experience for me.

"I have won a cap and see what that sort of atmosphere is like. Obviously you then want more."
