Falkirk star has his heart set on move to England!!!

ABERDEEN were last night told their top signing target Farid El Alagui has his heart set on England – and Falkirk plan to help get him there.

Craig Brown has identified the prolific Moroccan as the answer to Dons’ scoring woes after seeing his side average just a goal a game in the SPL this season.

Bairns striker El Alagui, 27, has hit the net 26 times in a stunning campaign so far and will become a free agent in summer.

But Falkirk technical director Alex Smith insists Brown will struggle to lure the hitman north.

He said: “I have discussed the player with Aberdeen but told them his preference is to move to England.

“There is no problem with them making an approach to Farid.

“But he’s been so outstanding for Falkirk we have agreed to do our best to help him fulfil his ambition in his career.

“Apart from scoring 26 goals he’s made the same amount as well. His form has attracted interest from bigger clubs and I have no doubt he has the quality to succeed at a higher level.”

This guy sounds good, and I would imagine he could fit into our wage structure too? What do you guys think?

it could actually be possible because ross wilson was falkirk's director of football so he could maybe divert their view to watford instead of anywhere else. thing is though would we want him? aberdeen are a very poor spl side and i'm sure we're better than them, not mentioning that el alagui is the joint top striker of the first division. el alagui might suit a team like aberdeen or an english league 2 equivalent because he's of that quality, but i believe he'll struggle with the championship. there's only one scottish first division player we've got that worked out (cowie), the rest have been poor. coupled with the fact that el alagui is 27 years old and has 13 yellow cards to his name this season, he's not a good buy imo.

I don't think his age is an issue, as for the yellow card count, it could be, but at least it shows he has a competitive streak, which is never a bad thing for a centre forward.

I also disagree with you about Aberdeen, I think they could make an effective Championship side as could most of the SPL sides IMO!!!

Going by the general performances of guys we've brought from Scotland this bloke would need time to settle and get used to the Championship...as a striker would he be afforded that time?
