I know your little trip to Watford was harmless and you were on your own, you came to watch your country play with a few mates- fair play to you.

Just wondering about all this you say about loyalties/rivalries to the club scene being forgotten when it comes to internationals/other events, a load of tripe.

When England beat Germany 5-1 in Munich, a few Luton throwing some glasses outside the station and were scattered by some Watford and the mates they were with down the road.

Stag night in prague 2 years ago, a Luton and Watford one both out there ended up bumping into each other, ended up Luton getting done in a bar and one Watford lad with a very big shiner.

There have been a few incidents lately on the international scene abroad latelyas well as it goes which i won't go into.

Just wondering what your takes on these are?

Assuming your ITK, like you seem to think you are....

I know I said that club loyalties are generally put aside when the national team plays, I also stated that i pity the few who can't accept the fact that when England play, we are all red and white on that day. You are always going to get people who can't let club differences aside.

I'm sure you are also aware of the incident involving Watford fans taking England flags with "Luton Town" on them at the Denmark game, in which we were hopelessly beaten.

The 2 incidents you mentioned involving Luton/Watford aggro at England games, plus the incident above - In my eyes are a disgrace, as are all the people involved.

As you full well know from my little night out in Watford for the England game, I am one who CAN put hatrid down and quite openly and happily drink with Yellow counterparts, and the majority can bring themselves to drink with me.

Faith is spot on, but this thread has skirted the subject, (just).

Unfortunately every club has it's wannabe hard men, (as does every forum ;)). At the Trinidad & Tobago game in Nuremburg there was a big lu*on flag near where we were sitting. One of the chaps wanted to go and rip it down while the rest of us were up for a bit of banter with them, (especially as we had the upper hand due to the promotion). I personally can't understand club rivalry when it comes to the national team

Can I ask one question to you GBH?

Say the Watford lads you know and know of saw the L*ton lads we know and know of on that day, what do you think would of happened honestly?

    Very interesting question indeed mate...

...I would have to say, I think most of the Watford lads/ladettes I know and know of, would be up for a very good bit of friendly banter, a couple would want to tear into the Luton contingent, but the majority would think better of it, as we're all English and would persuade the others into leaving it to just banter with the Lutonian counterparts.

On the other hand, I would have a very good guess that the Luton lads wouldn't be as friendly and would be more than happy to steam into the Watford following, with a small few explaining we are all English...But as it goes, majority rules. The lads i go to Luton games with, would however be the same as the Watford lot, a couple would just see them as yellow scum, but the majority (including myself) would stop them and remind them of their Englishness and duty to do their country proud.

Just for the record, when I was in Barcelona for the Andorra Vs England game the other week, on the thursday after the game, I was in a bar and bumped into a a group of 3 lads, one of which was wearing a Watford shirt. I happened to be sporting a Luton cap. and all day was friendly beers, with of course the expected banter about Watford/Luton. All in good spirit

The lads that I would be with, would give them a warm English welcome if they were there purely to follow the English national team.

Of course there's going to always be the small few who cant drop club rivalries no matter where you go, it's just the way it is
