It's easy to be negative and dismissive and I knew a few would be obvious are sarcastic about Wigan, Portsmouth etc, but it's a platform to go to greater heights. It's up to the club to take advantage of it.

I am concerned though that we will be outnumbered in midfield by Citeh’s formation and be too weak in defence. I would like to see three at the back, but it’s unlikely.

Gracia has already shown he is pretty crafty and well-versed with tactics and Watford will have a set of well organised game-plans; but tactics win or lose through the capability of each player against his counterpart. Reference Bob Paisley, one of the select group of managers qualified to sit at the same table as Graham Taylor, who said ' Sometimes each player has to concentrate on winning his personal battle against the man he is taking on' (not a direct quote.)
That's what worries me.
Each player will have to be right at the top of his game and keep that up for however long the match goes on.

Every single team that has won the fa or league cup outside of the top six in the last 20 years is now in the lower leagues. Portsmouth, Wigan, Birmingham, Swansea, Middlesbrough, Blackburn. All recent cup winning sides, all now utter shyte.

I think the platform we have is our squad depth, scouting network, Gino's skills and the potential of our younger players. It's a great platform. Losing heavily tomorrow wont do much for our 'global brand' but we will still be in an incredibly healthy position for next season, especially with Doucs saying he's happy to stay if no big club stumps up the cash for him and the possibility of signing a quality centre back.
