Was speaking to a City fan and he was of a similar opinion, he said arrr it be a biggun an no mistake, I took that as massive, massive, massive.
They've just beaten Man United's first team tonight, we could honestly be in trouble whatever side we decide to field.
Helpfully Brisol City progressing in the League Caribou Cup (or whatever it's called) will make them rest players against us to give us a chance of progressing
If we’re still on a bad run then we’ll get smashed but HOPEFULLY we will be over that rut and stringing a few results together.
Their first leg against Man City is w/c January 8th, the next game after ours. Nobody in the Bristol City team will want to get injured, if we don't win I'll be very, very surprised.
Well they will play a weaken side - bit like when they played us in the League Cup... Just hopefully we don't or those that do play remember to turn up.
Their "weaker" players will be giving 100% in an attempt to try and persuade the manager to select them for the semi final. Do you honestly think the likes of Pooey and Holebas will give a monkey for us?
Bristol City losing 5-0 at the moment to Villa. Trying to out do our result against City tomorrow maybe? Battle of the losers next week?
I think the match on Saturday will come as an unwelcome distraction for a City as it’s just three days before the first leg of their semi-final. Our recent form has been so bad there is a strong case for fielding our strongest eleven possible in a bid to rebuild confidence and hopefully play people back into form.
Risky strategy which could backfire if (when) our strongest eleven get thrashed by the City reserves!
Unfortunately if we had had a couple more scalps (Swansea, Huddersfield and Brighton) under our belt (enough for definitely "safe") I think our Lords and Masters would have had a gamble on a cup run (for the Europa place) but...
Yes,unfortunately I think Saturday's result has put paid to any prospect of a cup run. I'm looking forward to the game already!
We'll go on a cup run this year - purely because with our injury problems and appalling league form, it'll be the worst thing we can do in terms of making our battle to stay in the division any harder (yes, I believe we're in a relegation battle, and our current position of tenth is false). We'll fluke our way bast Bristol City, and a couple more rounds but still won't actually win the damn cup. Then, in our backlog of rearranged games that has seen us slide right down the table (where we cling to the hope of having "games in hand") we'll get a complete hiding as well as heaps of injuries to all the mystery superstars we signed from the reserves of teams in the lower reaches of Serie A. And despite what I've stated above - when the Bristol City match thread is up, I will contradict this by predicting us to lose. After this positive post, I'm off to the Samaritans to help them man the phones.
After a month ago questioning how nany points we would be happy to be on to throw a full on cup charge, we have to now rest players for Southampton. I'd say 4 or 5 changes and if we scrape through this round then see where we are in a few weeks after Saints and Lesta.
There is no doubt in my mind we will lose this game. We are a record breaking team for all the wrong reasons, and this will be the first time that we have been knocked out of both cups in the first round by the same team in one season.
I think this will almost certainly be the case. If we do go down I worry about us doing a Sunderland or Hull. The championship is a different place. We need players who want to play.
They have sold 1,200 so far with no pay in the day for them. Compared to the 7, 700 they are taking to Man City on Tuesday for their semi final. Seems reasonable .
It will be their least important match for the rest of the season. Actually, Flint said that about their Man U game which I thought hilarious.
I would be certain of a loss, however if they rest players for the City game we might scrape through. The match has come at a perfect time for Gray, who will want to start building a bit of momentum. I reckon he and Pereyra will start.
Well, when the Pozzos bought the club they imported loads of Latin fancy dans who had no idea about what it's like to play on a cold winter's night at Barnsley or play every other day during the Christmas holiday, and that group didn't do so badly, did they?
In that case 12.202 as daft old twit behind me is going and he really cannot be counted due to the drivel he utters.
