I don't know about you lot but I think the way the safety car is deployed in F1, but think it is very unfair on drivers who have built up a lead.

Throughout the race we are constantly being shown the time gap between the racers, so it must be known exactly how much time each car is ahead of the next when the safety car is deployed so why can't each car be made to restart racing the same time apart? I know this would be difficult to do whilst the cars are still out on the track; but why not file them all through the pit lane and restart the race from there.

The leader starting from the same spot as they are allowed to get back to racing speed when exiting the pit lane, and each car pulling up to that point and starting however much time they were behind the car in front when the safety car was deployed.

It just seems so much fairer to me; what do you think?

I like that s idea, but with a traditional Le Mans start.

Good god is it not boring enough without at least using any possible advantage to bring the cars together again? Bo**ocks to fairness, it's racing we want to see not a procession.

If the cars are 20 seconds apart that might be doable, but what happens when the cars are less than a second apart? Also, if some cars are lapped and one of the cars on the lead lap has a problem on their out lap, they can't get back to their pit because the lapped cars are blocking the lane.

Either leave it as it is (to bring back some battles in boring races) or use speed restriction buttons for yellow and double yellow flags. Similar to cruise control.

    Exactly this.

What they'd really love would be everyone to be driving identical cars (as in formula Ford) but then no one would watch it and worse still, no one would invest.

I think it says a lot about you TVOR that I saw the thread title and wondered when I clicked on it where you were going to fit a klaxon into F1 :]]

Disappointed you didn't so I'm out.

The rules are set for next year that after a safety car they will line up on the grid again. If we talk about fair is it fair his car is a second a lap quicker then any other car.
