    Pleased with Housmanzadeh

Any news on those players that went missing when the boat capsized?

    Dawkins to Broncos.

I'm losing a good player and gaining a good player. What with me being scum and having two teams and all.

T.O. is heading to Buffalo. Not sure he will give Trent Edwards much slack there... ;D

That's great news for Lee Evans. Now he won't have four defenders on him every play.

Nice one Evasive. Not many of us comment on this topic, but it keeps on going, which is the main thing.

Cowboys also signed Detroit QB John Kitna to back up Tony Romo. They also released Tank Johnson and Roy Williams this week. Chris Canty left the Cowboys for the Giants, and in his place, the Cowboys have signed Igor Olshansky from the Chargers.

Kansas City also signed Cassel and Vrabel from the Pats, while Coles has moved from the Jets to the Bengals.

Tight End Kellen Winslow joined the Bucs from the Browns (look forward to seeing him at Wembley)

Some might have been aware that Jay Cutler has been upset with the Broncos recently regarding the Broncos willingness to trade him in order to land Matt Cassel.

The Broncos failed to land Cassel (who eventually went to the Chiefs) and have now had to trade the unhappy Cutler to Chicago for two first round draft picks (2009 and 2010), a third rounder (2009) and Chicago QB Kyle Orton.

That is definately a big gamble which could land a big payoff for the Bears but the Broncos will probably be the happier of the two teams. They can use their two first round picks this year to add some quality players, and have the fortune to pick twice in the first round next year.

The Bears have been without an adequate QB for years. Now they have one who they can build their franchise around for the next decade. It's just a shame that such a great quarterback has gone to such a ****tish team.

Tough season for Denver me thinks, not a massive fan of Orton, but two first round picks isnt a bad return for a cry baby.

Bears for the play-offs, yeah i think there is a good chance.

Hey...what happened to 2009? It's hardly even started and we are on to 2010 already?

Bears have done well for themselves acquiring Cutler, but I hate players who throw down like that. Chicago can be a rough place for QB's that aren't named McMahon.

Who do you guys think is the bad guy here? McDaniels for even thinking about trading Cutler in the first place or Cutler for throwing his toys out?

  14. Fitz

    Fitz Squad Player

I'm usually quite rational...but I can sympathize with Cutler...after all I had to leave my Weds night soccer match early because I was about to say something to the ref the whole team would have regretted...but I left. Cutler didn't.

I think he blew it...he should have let his agent do things for him. On the other hand, it is possible the agent f'd it up, too.

  15. Y&P

    Y&P Squad Player

Cutler, in my humble opinion, is the third best QB in the NFL. He was assured of being the Broncos' starting man for years to come and had a fantastic receiving corps developing around him. Suddenly, the owner, Pat Bowlen, tries to trade for someone who's had one good season and hasn't been a starter since high school. I'd be pissed off.

By all acounts, McDaniels was waiting everyone to calm down before seeing whether the situation was retrievable before the draft, when he'd make a final decision on whether he was traded or not. But Cutler, rightly, believes that if the Broncos' management tried to **** him once, they'd do it again in the future, so he wanted out.

    Fair play to mr Cutler.

  16. Fitz

    Fitz Squad Player

I don't disagree with your point that he should be upset or angry, I just think it is his agent's job to go to war on his behalf. Somehow this didn't happen, be it Cutler's impulsiveness or his agent's failure to see what his client would do. His role is to represent Cutler's interests was compromised.

Training camps are about to get underway around now and the big fella's are all trying to get the last bits of fun and food in before they need to get in shape for the season. It's so hot, and so many of the teams are about to do two a days for weeks...

    Let the games begin!

    Hey Evasive:
    I forgot...why are you a Titans fan?

  19. Evasive

Had to laugh at the Ravens...

Derrick Mason (former Titan) retires on them.
Ravens sign Drew Bennett (former Titan) and he retires after one practice ;D

Titans fan because when I used to play Madden with my school friends I wanted to be the Raiders, but the Raiders through to the Texans were taken. So I took Titans.

    Ouch for the Ravens...
Madden's as good a reason as any, I suppose.

we (the ravens) are ok now mason's come back. It's still obviously not a world beating WR group, but getting mason back makes it about 3 times better. We'll still be hot on the ground (watch out for Ray Rice this year, he could surprise a few people) and defense should be solid as always.

It might be a longshot, but do you reckon we have enough people to get a forum fantasy league going on NFL.com?

  22. Bunk

Evasive runs a very good prediction league throughout the season which seems to work.
I think there is only about four or five of us who post on it though.

Good stuff, I'll hop on that. Less people means more chance of me finishing top (or bottom...)

if you don't already, i'd read all of the postcards from nfl training camps on sports illustrated's website. they allow a good catch up for whats occured over the last few months and gives you some inside tracks on who to pick in fantasy games (i.e ray rice)

We just pick who will win in each of the matchups each week and the winner is the one with the highest number of correct guesses.

My technique is a combination of pure intuition and team name analysis.

I don't need to read up.

Micheal Vick to the Eagles looks a good move, Micheal Vick and McNabb at QB! That is two great Qbs

  28. Bunk

    Why, though?

Why would the Eagles do that. Favre is just a joke, he'll do nothing at the Vikings.

We are going to run the Wild Cat. Might have the fastest offense in the nfl with vick westbrook jackson and Maclin out there running it.

    scary variation.

plus mcnabb will be being pushed by a qb2 that could replace him, unlike kolb. and he wont be around forever.

my boys will go far this year methinks.

I'm glad the ravens haven't got the eagles on their schedule this year, they're my clear NFC favourites

got a pretty good fantasy team this year:

    Manning QB Colts
    Jones-Drew RB Jaguars
    Lynch RB Bills
    Berrian WR Vikings
    Harvin WR Vikings
    Jennings WR Packers
    Keller TE Jets
    Bironas K Titans
    Cowboys D

Reserves: Orton (Broncos), Charles (Chiefs), Jones (Cowboys), Sproles (Chargers), Marshall (Broncos)

Waiting to see how Marshall will do. He's not leaving, but he's not happy either. Also trying to trade Manning for Cutler and Charles for Shockey.

I guess I'm a year late on my chronocriticism?

Only the Super Bowl is played in 2010 this season...just sayin'.

There's a decent program on HBO drilling into the preseason of the Cincinnatti Bengals, called Hard Knocks. Pretty interesting. I wish there was more visibility into the workings of English football teams like this.
