I don't have a problem with Southgate tbh. England have had worse managers. About 25 mins away from winning the group without conceding. And then its the fun of knockout football

Actually thought we were half decent tonight. Still need to be a bit more positive as we do have some attacking talent. Would be amazed if we beat France or Germany, but half a chance against Portugal

 

Which worse managers have England have? Even McLaren did well with Boro whereas Southgate took them down. He is a nomark.

Poor old Steve managed when the Euros had 16 teams. He’s have waltzed to qualification in the 24 team format. GT managed when World Cup was 24 teams. Southgate managed when it is impossible not to qualify and and the likes of Gibraltar thrown in.

 

Germany ain't been all that away from home. A chance against them as well. Admit France would be a hard one but hopefully they will beat Portugal next game so it wont matter.

 

I agree we’d be favourites at home to Germany. Be bigger favourites without Southgate.

GT was unlucky as he managed a poor England team. Capello and Sven had been successful as club managers but failed to get us past a QF despite managing a better England team than this one

Capello met Germany, Sven met Brazil, Portugal twice. Southgate got Sweden. Robson got Cameroon. Let’s see what happens in round 2, but none of the top end managers got Croatia in a semi final and failed. Biggest missed opportunity ever because of who we have in charge. Southgate is dreadful.

Germany will beat Hungary at home I think so they will get 6 points.

If Portugal beat France, England play Portugal next week.

If France draw then England play France next week.

If France win, then England play Germany next week.

 

I'm not sure if Portugal are the easiest team of the 3. They dominated Hungary while France who beat Germany on their home soil struggled against Hungary. Of course Germany won convincingly against Portugal but I feel like that could have gone either way. Portugal looked pretty good before they scored the first own goal. After that they did fell apart but we'll see what happens tomorrow.

 

Good luck anyway. I will probably cheer for you especially if you play Germany. Hope you can start playing at least a bit better as you've been pretty poor so far.

 

Spot on. In World Cup 2002 for example, Sven lost to the eventual champions Brazil 2-1 and the winning goal was a complete freak goal. We also beat Argentina in the group stages. The fact that we didn’t get as far in the tournament as Southgate has is a gigantic red herring.
